I second the dive boots with an exemption. Don't wear socks. Dive boots are designed to be wet. when water fills them up your body temp heats the water . socks will stay wet and cold

I do that sometimes in San Diego. In Westport we left early and would fly out at 35 knots on a 23 foot GW in 15 foot mixed swells with wind blowing 15 .
Funny I got them laughing when they were talking chit about the CA kid couldn't handle the weather..

They decided I could stick around when 40 miles offshore and a few guys puking overboard I said
(while eating a sandwich) When will the weather get bad?
But I know what you mean. It sure can wear a fellow out.

We can put out 10 poles about 10 yards apart. I use 15 ft. Long conduit poles. Hats just to mark where you put your bait. The bait is ground up manhaden mixed with either flour or clay. The depth depends on your preferences. You do better when the current in moving. I put two bait balls on each pole and cast on top of them. Hope this helps you understand how its done.

Thank you for the explanation. I would love to trade a few lobsters for shrimp .
So your fishing them from shore. You must definitely know what you doing.

I agree. Having been born and raised in California. I have had the opportunity to pass thru Texas a few times.. Mostly stopping at truck scales and fuel stops with the bonus beng the restaurants. I have found the people true and genuine. Even the truck enforcement have been fair if your honest with them.
I do love California , unfortunately. . Have been here my whole life . The ocean is my solitude that was passed down from my grandfather to my father to me to my son's and grandkids. I could never leave her. I sure could use some fuel at $1.77 a gallon while enjoying a great burger. Thank you.
Robert.. while it's a lot of paperwork I also can legally carry a 45. Just sayin

That is some good shrimping!! I have never had an opportunity to do that. Can you explain how a little more?
It has to be more to it than drive a boat and throw a net. Do you chum them up? How deep are they? Are they on the surface?

Sorry for questions but I never knew.

Kerry, Did you get in on any Albacore this season? My wife I visit her mother in Silverdale area. Its a great week! I never see my mother in law. LOL I fish Westport with some friends I made up there with boats.

Fantastic fishery, I come back to the in laws 1 day before I fly out with bags of Albacore, Salmon and Crab.
She says I'm free to visit anytime.

That was WF&G Checking out our catch. We were legal. We had to release a lot of salmon to get the right ones for our limit.

Why dont you look on Ebay for a drill prop. Use your battery operated drill, chuck on the prop, stick the prop in the water squeeze the trigger and off you go. Thats what I use. I don't know and never needed to know how far you could get on a charge. I only go a mile or two and always had enough power. You may want to take 2 batteries. Don't remember the cost but it wasn't to much. I'm pretty cheap.

HAHA.... Great idea! Do you mount it or just hold on to it?
Of course in CA if any vessel is "motorized" it needs to be registered.

That is a great picture! they are really hard fighters. Down fishing fishing out of San Felipe in a Panga with my Son and a guide who couldn't speak english, but he could say at least one thing when we got one on, REEL REEL REEL, so we could keep them out of the rocks and what not on the bottom, very powerful.

With Yellowtail that's a universal language. Adrian's yellowtail rocked him then wrapped around kelp stringers. It doesn't work all the time but putting the reel in free spool takes pressure off the hook. They then don't feel the tension and swim free. He was lucky, when the fish swam away from the boat I said "REEL REEL REEL". That picture was the result.
