Air temperature 39°@9:30am, water temperature 50.1°, wind 6, gusts 8mph. Only 3 other trailers in the lot when I arrived, but it's chilly. Headed for the rocky point where I can usually find a Smallmouth or 2. Nothing but a couple Rockys, so I tried 3 deep dropoffs with nothing but a couple taps on a swimbait. Worked the ledges around Point Folly, NADA. Hit the cove on the west side, and the west shoreline, nothing. All this time I'm seeing the 3 Bassboats running from one spot to another, but never saw them catch anything. Headed for Nick's Cove to eat my sandwich. Got out the ultralight rod with the same little swimshad I used last time. After a couple casts, I tossed it about 15'behind the boat and put the rod in the rodholder so I could eat. 3rd bite of my pb&j, BAM, the rod doubles down with the tip in the water! I could hardly get it out of the holder, and the drag was screaming. I gained some line and saw it was a 16"Pickerel, so I netted it and CPRed it. Finished my sandwich, and started casting again, while circling the cove. Wound up catching 3 small Yellow Perch, and the big fish of the day, a 19"Pickerel. That one felt like a 3lb Smallmouth on the ultralight rod. After that my fingers were numb so I called it a day. When I got to the truck I saw that it only got up to 45° there. As I was unloading the boat,2 of the bassboats hauled out also. All 3 of the guys I asked said they caught no Bass, just some panfish. It was that kind of day.

Way to go Fred! Great pictures and healthy looking fish. Sorry you couldn’t find the bass, but those hammer handles are fun to catch! Looking forward to your next installment!👍😎

Have I told you all lately that I just love you? Cause I do…thanks to your advice, I had some decent luck today. Fishing off the bottom, using a nightcrawler, and I caught half a dozen bluegill, two smallish bass and this 17” chain pickerel. It was chilly out there, but worth every minute. You all are the best!

Nice reward for being persistent Betts. Good on ya’. 👍😎

Sounds like a great day Saw. Take care of that back. I too have back issues. Broke mine in ‘99. Luckily it healed well, but will act up now and then when I forget to bend my knees. Glad to hear it’s getting better!😎

The Professor got me another heavier duty rod and reel for trolling and he said it just wouldn't be complete if I didn't have my very own Bucktail to go with it! (Chartreuse one of my favorite fishing colors)

Have fun with your new equipment FT. Those buck tails are producers in fresh and salt water. Good luck and tight lines!😎

Me and a buddy went looking for a pond that my girlfriend swam in over 50 years ago... What we found was remarkable and entertaining. No roads in or out not even a place to land a Hilo. I had four fish straighten four different true turn hooks. I landed a #7, #5, #5, #4 and some smaller twos and threes. My fishing partner did almost as good. We only got to fish for a couple hours as we had to try to get back before dark.

Those are some monsters shellback! Thanks for sharing the pics!👍😎

No apology required from what i can read. A good sense of humor is nearly a requirement if one wants to last here on the stage. Life is way to short and fishing, talking fishing, and eating fish helps put life's problems on the back burner for another time.

Then we have bb, who brings us all back to what life is about. Humor is the best medicine out there.

Thanks Plum! 😎

No offense felt or intended MM. Just the way my head works. I was referring to Robin Hood. Not a loved one of yours. Was trying to produce a smile. 😎

Its that time of year. Got to love the colors. Hope you enjoy.

A beautiful look at Autumn in New England set to music by Vivaldi. The soundtrack is the first “Autumn” movement from Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra as conducted by Seiji Ozawa and featuring Joseph Silverstein on the violin. Fall colors are always beautiful to see and they make for great photographs and videos.

So, snowed yesterday morning, followed by rain off and on all day. Forecast of more rain today… but there was a calm before the next storm and I said GO !!! Hahaha. It was a last minute scramble too as I started to put everything away for the winter.
So out of curiosity, I wanted to explore new water and see what I could dial in. Managed about a dozen smallmouth, all shallow and all on 4 in keitech swimbaits in a rainbow trout color. Very fun.
Next, I wanted to see if I could get those big lake trout to play. Only had a handful of tube baits on board… and used every last one of them too. Caught 7 nice ones until I was “tubeless”… figured it was end of the line for my season… Thanks again everyone who took the time to view my posts… and truly appreciate all of the many nice words that were expressed. I’m now on the side lines viewing your days on the water. Best of luck to all. Tight lines from Montana.

Nice looking Laker JB! Sorry your season is ending, but you are in god’s country up there in Montana. I’ll try to do my part to keep you entertained over the next few months.😎

Usually we fish local lakes but the bite has been slow for the last month.
So Thursday we decided to try the local river & I’m sure glad that we did.
We landed 25 bass & pickerel over 3 or 4 hours including some big ones - a 4.75 and 3.25 LMB and some big pickerels 🎉

The Chatterbait has been the money bait for us this whole season 👍

Nice catch there RedA! I love catching tail dancers. The bass look great too!👍😎

Our thunderstorms and tornadoes are over. It's still windy but supposed to lay down overnight. Going down to low 30°s overnight, but should get up near 50° tomorrow. If the wind is down I'm gonna give Pikeland a shot. Hopefully I can avoid the slimedogs, and find some Bass. Gonna wait till around 9:30 to hit the water, hopefully it warms up a little anyway. Pix and report will follow.

Good luck Fred. Hope you are successful!😎
