A few years ago I took my old fishing partner on a 16 ft Starcraft boat I had converted to a bass style boat . Every time we went out he commented on how impressed he was of the build
After the season and while enjoying a few adult beverages he asked what I would do if I had his boat. I assured him I’d put it back on the water.
Over the winter he got sick.
In April he called me and told me to come over and get the boat and we would take care of the title transfer
A month or so later he went into the hospital and didn’t come home. He passed the following January

Anyway come to find out , the boat . A 17 ft tracker tournament Vee had sat outside for 16 years
This thing was rough. Everything including transom was rotten

For the next couple of years between spending a lot of time out of the country with work, I gutted the hull and took it to bare metal.
I rebuilt transom , painted, did all the fab work , re wired , basically a complete makeover

Took it to the dealer to have the motor gone thru. 3 week wait turned into 22 weeks.
I finally ran out of patience and bought a new boat off the showroom

The tracker sat out in the lot over the winter and thru the summer
. My brother hit a stump in his boat and busted the transom . I ended up selling the tracker to him for a loss.

He’s getting ready to put it on the water next weekend.

Finally keeping my promise to my friend. It’s going back now the water

Morning guys, Bass Pro Shops and Cabale's start their spring sale today, FYI. I'll be at our local Cabale's at 9:00 when the door opens, got my eye on the Garmin Panoptic Live Scope the 9" SI unit is $500 off! Do that today and spend the next couple days trying to figure out where to mount it. Great day to all.

Too funny, leaving the office at 8:30 to get there by 9:00 for a Guidewear Rain Parka. Been waiting a year - better be in stock :)

That’s good Fly...who wants to mess with mixing gas. And you can’t always depend on the injection system. I think you will be happy with the choice you made...🐟on

My new boat last year was Mercury 4 stroke XS as well. Can't even tell when it's runnin when it's idling at the dock.
Had a two stroke before that. Cold blooded -itch but when it ran it ran GREAT. Did a total workover on it, Stator, switchbox, coils, you name it - just up and died on the lake after I moved to my 5th spot that day. Mechanic said anywhere from $600 -$2,500 to fix and no guarantees.
You will LOVE your 4 stroke

Bass Camp is my first choice, the landing was still iced in on Sunday, but open water about 30 yards out. 63 degrees (record) here in SE MN today, so hopefully by Saturday it is open! If not, Red Wing will be my choice #2.
The walleye on my picture is a 32.25" caught in Ontario a few years ago (I also caught a 29.5" in the same spot 10 minutes before that one!) Pictures of both and let them go.

The Crestliner is a good boat and will be a lot easier to handle. - Good luck!

Going down the Mississippi to Lock and Dam 3 by Red Wing in Mid April and then will be heading down to Clayton Iowa end of April this year ( I think that's lock and Dam #10) . Jealous you are going sooner - have fun!!

Not entirely sure I understand your question BUT:
I have a 2015 Terrova, I-Pilot networked to a Helix 9 and 12. Works with my Lakemaster cards for follow the contour, autopilot etc.

These guys know everything. It's a Minnesota number but if you know you r model numbers and what you want to do they can tell ASAP.

So on the east coast we are starting to see days that scrape 60. This is my first time fishing during this season and I'm curious what I should be doing this time of year.

Agreed. I grew up watching Roland Martin, Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston and Hank Parker, but unless they traveled above the Mason-Dixon Line I could barely relate to what they were doing.
Doug Stange from Fishing Facts is a good teacher as well and he travels all over and will share those techniques and presentations on multiple species. Between us, we have over 25,000 lakes and 5,000 streams and rivers to fish, plus the Mississippi River and 2 Great Lakes...just don’t tell anybody or we’ll be up to our ears in FSers. 😂
With all of the knowledge that has been shared on this forum, those poor fish don’t stand a chance! I almost feel sorry for them. I might even have to purchase another freezer 😉

It seems Al may have been a Hell Raiser back in the day and found God. I have always enjoyed their products and the whole family is involved in their shows and share great information instead of the “Look at me...and watch what I can catch” guys. There are some great teachers and lessons on some of these shows if you listen and watch carefully.

I couldn't agree more - those are the reasons I watch.
I like the Bass Tournies just to watch some of the "physical skills" and hear some of the dialogue afterward about what they did and why but they never really spend a lot of time on techniques or teaching. They ar eon my "quickview" to go to during the commercial breaks.
The other shows give me more of the lures, how they set them up, why they use them in that presentation and environment etc. Midwest outdoors. In depth outdoors, Jason Mitchell - those types of programs - Plus much of what they show is local to me here in the upper midwest. THey were up on Lake of the Woods this weekend, were in Wisconsin last weekend. There is one show ( can't remember the name) where the two guys use different lures for the first couple hours and tehm switch over to a different style lure to see who catches more. They go on lakes new to them and are Bass fishing. I like that show alot.
I learn the most form those.

Only 3?
I bounce from the Outdoor Channel to Fox Sports WI and catch all the freshwater info I can. Al Lindner always closes with an inspirational Bible verse or feel good story about Christ, so I count that as my religion for the day in these Covid times.

That is fabulous - didn't know I could count that?! My 26 yr old son was watching with me and looked at me and said "really?" I said "hey, whatever moves him. He enjoys fishing and the bible - that's his thing" He just looked back at the tv, smiled listened and we waited for the next show to start.
Sunday mornings are GOOD

Couple things I need to share as I just saw them on Jason Mitchell Outdoors. He was fishing after a cold front with slip bobbers and leeches.
1. He advised to put 2 bobber stops on braided line to reduce slippage for maintaining consistent depth.
2. He hooks his leeches in the middle, for a more natural presentation. They will swim, rather than curl up around the hook as they tend to do when hooked through the sucker end (used when jigging).

Some of you may already know these, but these tips may help someone catch the fish of a lifetime. Hope these help, anyway!

I wouldn't consider NOT providing something. Buy the bait, lunch after, anything. It's the right thing to do. I agree, just ask sincerely and i'm happy. Most times i'm doing the inviting and the way I see it if I invite I should expect to treat.

I lived in East Orange the first 11 years of my life. The Ampere section which is now a ghetto I think. Last time by there, about 20 years ago the place I used to live ( which was nice at the time ), looked like it might have been an armed camp. There were row houses across the street ( same as the one I lived in ) which were all knocked down and it was a great ball park for us little kids. Well last there it looked like some sort of storage yard for just about anything with a fence and razor wire across the top. I was flabbergasted. Go by Centerway sometime and let me know what its like today. Its a one-way street that comes off Springdale Ave between 18th and 19th streets.

Well, for my money on a Google Earth walk - I won't be visiting soon.
I grew up in a much more suburban setting than that. Looks like downtown Mpls these days - no thanks
