I just joined this week. I was an accomplished angler in NC near Lake Wylie but now I have moved to Beaufort SC between Savannah and Charleston. Looking for fellow Low Country fisherman to follow for tips and what is biting on what.

Use Goggle Earth to find some lakes and ponds near you, great tool when you are new to a area to find fishing piers boat landings, I see lots of fishing around boat landings.

I think when the herd gets to big they put some up for people to get, I believe you have to get on a waiting list to get one, when we used to trail ride I remember some of the guys talking about getting one.

Fred thanks for the picture of the hook, could be a key to catch more fish, you certainly won’t get hung up as much which means you just might cast a little deeper in the brush, just thinking out loud, certainly worth a try 🐟🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I think the bass will get bigger as long as there’s food for them. In one pond I remember, there were so many bass that there was no food for them all to get bigger. We culled about 60% of the bass in that pond and the next couple of years the sizes increased dramatically.

I agree, I was taught in high school (agriculture class) that you could never over fish a pond with hook and line, our ag teacher would set up ponds for us to fish after school and he would fry fish for us we always ate good, that is if you didn’t have to go straight home and work on the farm 🐟 I’ve also been told by pond owners to not throw any fish back, to keep or throw away, their reason was they did not want their pond over stocked with small fish 🐠 South Carolina is open for work and fishing, with social distances guide lines followed. Be safe, not going to get out of this world alive 🇺🇸

I'm in North West Florida and have really wanted to get into freshwater fishing. I have a nice pond that I fish in where the water is fairly clear and gets deep out near the middle, with a good bit of vegetation and cover near the shore. My issue is that I'm not catching anything. At any time I can see 3-4 good sized bass in the water not even 10 feet away but they refuse to bite. I've been using crank baits, worms, and small swimming shads colored like bluegill, and I have had no luck over 3 days. Is now not a good time for bass fishing, or am I just not doing something right? I have 10 lb mono on a spinning rod and feel at least like I'm working the lures in at the right speed and technique. But bass just refuse to chase my lures, or show them much interest at all.

Put on a baby torpedo or the tiny torpedo or a rebel or a devil horse be on the water at daylight, cast to the edge, let it sit till the wake is gone then just barely move the lure, watch for any fish movement around you if you see some cast in the area, work top water plugs early and late in the day. Also cast a 6 inch black with blue or red tail worm Texas rigid I like to peg the weight about 6 inches from the hook with a tooth pick or use a split shot, give this a try and come back with pictures 🎣 good luck and be safe!

Nice fish but one look at her tail and you know she was on or making a nest. I hope u put her back. But it looks like u ate her?

If he ate the fish, it is his call I’ve ate many like that, I hate to see fishermen be criticized for trying to do or share something on this form and then, someone starts throwing darts at them, this is just like yesterday about the cooler and a couple days back this guy says he hates dock fishermen ( I’ve caught a bunch around docks) what I’m saying is if you can’t be positive, keep the NEGATIVE to yourself.....No I’m not in charge, just saying the way I feel......

Was stationed at Myrtle Beach AFB (now defunct) and ate many oysters and blue claw crabs from Murrell's Inlet. Troops used to gig flounder at night time there as well. Remember a field stone restaurant named Oliver's. Suppose it's all developed now. The AF kept a boat rental place there. The assigned NCO used to sell crabs for 50 cents a dozen!

Major you are correct sir, Oliver’s lodge lm told was a very fine place to eat, the only thing left as I know it is the sign out by the road, the city owns the golf course now and it is whispering pines across the road from the airport,
