Where in Punta Gorda? My parents lived there 25 years ago. My dad started the Punta Gorda Boat club and was also commodore at Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club.

When top water is working, you have that right collection of tackle.
You might want to throw in some swamp monkeys and accompany them with fluke tails for deeper water. 1/2 oz.

Out on the water by 5:30am. Bite was on good from 6:08 until 7:00am using top water. Landed 4 lost 6. None of them had much size, but plenty of fun. Lake was clear and glassy with surface temps at 84 degrees.
Fish appear to be setting up for deeper water summer routine . . . At least that is what the more skilled fisherman are sharing with me.

I use an ocean kayak that is sunrise orange and have caught plenty of fish. The reason I like brighter colors is it is more visible if I am stranded and need help.

I will reach out to some of my buddies who I know can get me on to the base. I was at Ft Eustis in the day to become a certified load planner for Ft. Hood and III Corps.

I served in the military with 6th ACCB out of Ft. Hood, but did not make it a career. For 2 years our unit worked along side National Border Patrol to protect the citizens and apprehend illegals coming over the border. We covered a range from Big Bend to Del Rio. This assignment was at the directive of president Ronald Reagan.
