Ya, it’s crazy how good Luckycrafts work! I fished with a buddy who was fishing Rapalas and Yozuri’s ... same spot on the beach, same casts and retrieve, basically 15’ apart from one another... he caught 1 surf perch as I caught Strippers, perch, halibut, and croker... 10 to 1! Sometimes ya gotta pay$ to play and Luckycrafts are most definitely worth the money!
I have an 8’6” irod gen lll extra heavy mag baitcast rod paired with a Okuma Citrix 364 reel that I use for fishing BIG swimbaits for BIG bass. This one of my setups that I’ll be taking to surf fish in Baja Sur Mexico this summer! You can find the irod series of rods ( unbelievable for the price ) and the Okuma Citrix 364 on Tackle Warehouse. Com...
No problem! El Cap has a nice stretch of beach just south of the point where you’ll find most of the perch... halibut tend to hang out on sandy bottoms and close to rocks... basically, where the rocks end and the sand begins... good luck 🏄🏼♂️🎣🤙
So ya, Luckycrafts catch fish!!!
Yes, those will work well for surf perch. That said, I’d suggest investing in a few Luckycraft Pointers 110 & 115 in sardine and anchovie colors! Pricey but absolutely deadly for giant surf perch & halibut! Simply cast out, let it sink for 5-10 seconds and real back slowly... as far as I’m concerned, they are the best multi species lures one could fish from the beach!!!
Below the dam in McMinnville. I’ve caught tons of trout with Panther Martin spinners there...
Yes! But, we have a wonderful Mexican lady that comes to our place with her family and cooks for us while our children play and swim in the pool! If I do keep a fish it would be a Snook or Snapper... she’ll either grill it or make ceviche... along with homemade rice, beans, tortillas and the best mint/ watermelon mojitos on the planet! We are well connected down there! If you have the time, smarts and connections, it’s sooooo easy to spend a lot of time in paradise! As I’ve said before... we are not even close to being rich... middle class at best! I’d be happy sharer how to do it with anyone! Not hard, just time consuming for the 9-5 person!
When I get to my destination in Mexico I always go to Jensens tackle shop on the East side of San Jose del Cabos Marina and have a chat with the locals! Cabo Killer lures work well, also, top water plugs work... as well as big spoons ! Big Krockadiles! Even large Hammertail swimbaits! My largest Snook to date was caught on a Luckycraft Pointer 115! I just carry around 5-6 different lures, a backpack with snacks, lots of water , needle nose pliers & a towel for after I go for a swim!
