Good read Gordon. Thanks for the reminder.
Really nice catch IBE! I have get back out in the Colerton to try my hand.
IBE, unfortunately the ponds are in our gated community. PM me if you would like to visit Oldfield.
Getting skunked is all a part of the experience. It makes a good day even better. I had two days where I got skunked, but was vindicated when I caught the 4 pounder and several smaller bass. Keep your line in the water.🙂 you might switch to fishing on the bottom with plastic worms when it gets colder.
Amberjack out up a heck of a fight. I had about 6 on my line during that trip, but only got two in the boat. I fought one for 15 minutes before he broke the line. We were fishing for Red Snapper about 40 miles off of Hilton Head, about100 feet down.
Thanks Fredfish! Saw, it's an Amberjack (35 lbs).
Finally caught one worthy of posting. With the colder weather, the Bass were hitting plastic worms pretty good. I landed 5, but the first one was the best: 25 inches and 4.5 lbs. Caught it in a pond in my community in Okatie, SC.
When I was 6 years old my grandfather (Poppy) would take me fishing for flounder at Jones Beach (Cabtree) on Long Island. He had a 1954 Ford (two tone green) and he had to stick the tips of the rods out of the front window. One time I broke the tip off of one of the rods when I closed the door. I'll never forget that (some 64 years later). He never said a harsh word, but I definitely saw the disappointment in his eyes. He passed when I was ten years old, but those are some of my most treasured memories.
Not sure about on the island, except by Hudson's seafood. The Broad river pier would be a good spot if you are up to a 45 minute to an hour drive. There is a pier at the end of Calhoun Street in Bluffton on the May river.
That is a lot of work; a labor of love. We paid $5 a crab (live) in Belize when fishing for Permit. Excellent video Gordon.
Welcome aboard Thomas. I love catching large mouth bass. I'm down by Hilton Head and don't know much about where to go up your way.
