Fish are still in spawn with some post spawn fish. Bite was exceptional on creature baits and flukes all unweighted. 6 foot maximum with ,any fish in “deepwater Near the bank”. Deep is relative , larger fish ,at each in second spawn as they were beat up but full of eggs. Shad spawn has happened at least in the south end as I caught decent fish on unweighted flukes. Monday post Mother’s Day lake was perfect no boats and bite was insane ( summer craw and sunfish colored flukes were the ticket. Big cut tail My go to bait were ineffective. Thumped like hits on crank baits but on the drop or dead stick fluke. Tight lines

Strange year compared to last year for sure ( high water record). Last year I caught large fish very shallow UNTILL August . Lack of shallow grass and pitching into trees was ticket last year. I find this year the lake fishing very different . Shallow but not a preponderance of bedding fish ., deep water being relative near shallow water even with no apparent cover . Old 7 inch cut tail Yamamoto worms , speed worms , whacky senkos , Carolina rigged all work. Yamamoto has been sold and haveing trouble getting the colors I like ( to bad , they had great colors ) FieldMarshall

I have a place on S. end lake , weekends are crazy these days . I found a few big ones and they are just starting to develop eggs . I dissected one we keep to eat ( first time in 30 years ) for my Chef son. overlies we swollen and just two immature eggs . Fish were in 6 -10 feet hitting speed worms . No cover shallow looks like a moon scape . Bank beaters had a hard time and wind was insane . Two boats sank during College Tournament . Five Fingers area and open water spots were a no go unless you were demented . J.Hersch
