Other consideration will be control of the fish when you get him to the yak. That extra 3' is something that may be hard to work with when that walleye or trout says no way is he getting in that yak.

I agree with plum bob. I do a lot of kayak fishing and a 10’ rod would be very difficult to work with. 7’ rods in a kayak are about right for me.
