How/What/When - to Use a Stainless Double Hook ?

Found several SS Double Hook (maybe size 4 or 6 - maybe for bass?) in my inherited Tackle Box - (looks like a Treble Hook - but only 2 hooks) - I need to know, How/When to Use it ?....and What Fish is it for?....or are these junk?....Looks pretty new to me.....Tnx Guys.

They could be used as replacement hooks for top water lures like rubber frogs or mice? Stainless typically means intended for salt water, though. Perhaps meant to replace treble hooks on surface plugs?

Are the shafts welded together, or separated so you can slide them on and off a hook eyelet? See link.
I've used them to replace treble hooks because I was hooking myself as much as the fish with trebles! I think they were made by Eagle Claw, and although they had a silver/chrome finish, they rusted pretty quickly. Solved that by coating them with a product called ProtectaClear.
Anyway, they are simply a replacement hook. Some versions are designed specifically for frog rigs as well, can be used with soft plastics, and in large sixes (6/0 and bigger) they are used in offshore fishing.

Also used on a mullet rig surfcasting. Remove hook stick wire in mouth of finger mullet and out rear and put hook back on. Old school rig. Usually for bluefish.

WOW....never expected this rig set-up,....but tnx a lot Chas!.....will try the rig set-up when I go surf fish for the blues n mullets...tnx again!

In my opinion I don’t use stainless hooks, even in saltwater, because if a fish swallowed it and you loose the fish it won’t rust out for lot longer time in the fish. Regular steel hooks rust out fairly soon compared stainless hooks.

thanks...finally i got an answer for my question. Thought it was something i had stuck in my teeth or the like. Now if someone could tell me about what kind or name brand auto fly reel to use.
