Unfortunately I was the one preforming a self rescue and reentry into my yac. This afternoon the wind really picked up and I made my way across from the big pad field to the north end of Clark Island and while trying to grab onto a lilly pad to hook on my fish grippers I didn't pay close enough attention to how big the swells were and I got caught leaning at the bottom of the trough and slow motion over I went [ Please don't lecture me on rod leashes etc.] I'm quite aware of them and choose not to use them !!!!
That being said the Fish Gods got a big time revenge on me today. MIA. are my Shimono x-heavy with Dawia Tatula reel ( don't like that reel but it wasn't cheap) next up was my Cabela's medium weight with a Lews speed spool reel, my umbrella , one scupper plug, my knife and forceps which lay by my feet all the time ( except when I'm upside down it would appear). I managed to save the rod I was using .
The whole thing only took about 5 minutes for me to flip it and climb aboard then this guy in a boat that watched me power past him to where I went comes putting over in his boat and asked if I was ok? Hummmm? . Might have been nice to have him help flip the yac ??? "Just sayn''. Then after I told him I was just seeing how deep the water was he asked again and then asked where to fish for Walleyes around here? Hey you can't make this stuff upπ€ͺ. So I had to be careful and paddle to close by land and bail out about 3 gallons of water from inside which makes it very unstable by the way.
Of course my old phone got dunked as well and I'm hoping if dries out if not I have another one just for pics.
I continued to fish as I composed myself and missed a couple then I finally got to where I could clamp off and got a nice 3.46#er and of course no pic because the phone is wet. For the day I got 3or 4 can't remember ??? Memory sometimes fades after I go swimming.
MIA cont. Pair of water shoes ,towel and hand towel and two frogs that were on the rods. Fun fun fun. Had to come home early anyway to get my car ready to drop off for inspection in the morning. I'm ok little bump on elbow from climbing back in and probably used some extra muscles that will surely let me know when I wake up tomorrow. I did have my PFD on and chose not to manually inflate it which really would have made things alot more difficult. Other than that just another day frogn'. PS I do thank my God for my abilities to do what I did and for him seeing that I do get to live another day . For that I'm truly blessed. Amenπ,,πΈπΈπΈπΈπΈπΊπ²πΊπ²
