So I bought a minnow trap, the one shaped like a cylinder with a funnel with a 1 inch hole on both sides. Put in a can of smelly cat food and put it in about 1 1/2 foot of water. Right next to a school of mud minnows. Come back 15 minutes later and nothing. Should I have smeared some of the cat food around the opening?

I just purchased an Old Town pedal kayak for fishing. I have been reading about installing an anchor trolley. My question is, how do you control anchor depth with this trolley?
If you are fishing from shore there’s a dock at the rowing and sailing club off of Squire Pope rd. Nice facility with parking,bathrooms, and a cleaning station
