I just purchased an Old Town pedal kayak for fishing. I have been reading about installing an anchor trolley. My question is, how do you control anchor depth with this trolley?

The anchor trolley is only used to position the anchor line to the front, back, or anywhere in between on the side of the kayak. You’ll have a separate line attached to the anchor on one end and the ring of the trolley on the other.
I just installed one on my Ascend 133x. It’s great for positioning your kayak up or down current.

Thanks for the response. My issue is that sometimes you need 10 foot of anchor line and other times maybe 20

Ibe with a pedal yak you can control your position with back peddling pending current flow if needed thus eliminating a longer anchor rope.

You can an anchor line as long as you’d like. All you would have to do is tie the line off however long you need at the time. Any excess line can be tucked away when not in use.
Hope this helps.

I have a Bonafide SS127 and I use an anchor trolley and it’s fantastic. It allows you to have control of your kayaks positioning when the wind is in effect. Lots of information on YouTube on how the trolley works and how to install one.
Good Luck

I purchased the battleship grey.
It’s an amazing yak.
I really like yours, the color is great.
I guess you could always purchase another one right.

Yours looks stealthy with that gray color. I prefer the camo and dark colors like yours vs the bright ones. It is just me but i feel like i am sneaking up on the fish hiding out where boats cant go. I was going to do the crate behind like yours, but a cooler was a must where i was fishing in NC. I didn't want to use a stringer for my catch, there were occasional sharks in that brackish water that would make my catch a target.

We moved here in December and first thing even before finding a house i was looking for a kayak. Of all places i found this one Craigs list. Vendors everywhere were out of stock or closed because of the pandemic.

Some outfit sent all there salesman home that had garages and they worked from their homes. The fellow i bought this one from had 25 yaks in his garage at one time. I took mine and 4 were left. Right place right time.

I switched over to a peddle drive and honestly love it. A heck of a lot cheaper in price than a Hobie for sure.

Pedal Drive
Nice
That’s a game changer.
My buddy bought the red one.
I’m not for flash but I have to say it’s a great looking yak.

The red one is flash like you say, i turned down a bright blue one when i was purchasing the Bonafide. I really like the seat on the Bonafide vs what i have now. It is a raised seat on my Big Rig Propel ( that is the manufacturer name of my present Yak ) but no where near how good the Bonafide is. I might be doing a mod this winter on it.

Also the 33" vs your 36" width does make a difference because i like standing. Sea legs need to adapt a little better on the Big Rig yak.

I have a stainless ring on my trolley lines. I loop the anchor line through the trolley ring and quick cleat it. Easy to adjust. I keep a float on the dead end. I have had to dump an anchor in a hurry. The loop and cleat will dump it fast and the float saves the line. The float is a piece of pool noodle with a piece of PVC pipe in it. I wrap the anchor line around it.

Great Yak. Do you have a yak trailer or just the back of a pickup or car roof. I am looking for a reasonable trailer for mine. Yak trailers run high dollar, any suggestions for a trailer?

Harbor Freight has a small trailer that can be modified. Get a piece of channel or aluminum square tube the correct size for the hitch the same length as your boat to replace the tongue. 2/3 in front of the axle 1/3 behind the axle. Roller on the tail. Bunks or saddles for the boat. Use a piece of angle iron/aluminum on the back to mount the tail lights and plate.
