Used to fish for Carp on the Charles River in Boston Newton and Dedham Mass in the 60's and 70's. We used Dough cornmeal honey and oatmeal mixed together. Used a 1/2 oz. slip weight and an open bail and watched the line it would start to go out slowly til the carp felt the hook then BOMBS AWAY!!! They always seemed to go straight like a BAT OUT OF HELL!!! Biggest I caught was about 20 lbs. at Riverside in Newton. Another story we was fishing the Charles in Dedham and a guy coming down to fish asked how?? We set him up and he put his rod on a forked stick and in a little while he got a strike!!! He was slow to react and forgot to open the bale and away went his rod up the Charles!!!

A couple of good friends Joe and John with similar handicaps are playing golf, Joe says how will we play today? John says we play where the ball lies!! 1st hole Joe hits his ball into the gravel cart path!! they drive up and Joe says can I move my ball?? John says we are playing where the ball lies so Joe pulls a club from the golf cart and John drives to his ball. Joe takes many practice swings shooting sparks up every time!! Then he hits the ball within 6 inches of the pin!! Amazed John says what club did you use???
Joe says YOUR 6 IRON!!!!

Being a Snowbird I wintered at Myrtle Beach for many years. There a lot of places to go fishing that is better in warmer months. Georgetown has a pier made out of old bridge. Huntington beach and pier is up the road as is "Brookgreen Gardens" Google it!! Other people here will know more then I do. Was going to move to Murrells Inlet before Covid hit so we are staying put. Georgetown is a historic town very nice!! The only negatives were the Steel Wire Mill now closed and the paper mill you don't want to be downwind some days. Wife grew up near Lincoln, Maine Nicknamed "Stinkin Lincoln" Papermill went out of biz years ago so it's just Lincoln now!! Lot of jobs lost up that way.

Back in the 60's When we were kids we were wading in bare foot to fish in Dedham Mass. with my life long friend Sheldon when he was lifting his Red Devil out to cast again!! A 15 inch Pickerel came right out of the water and grabbed it. Sheldon cast it out a few feet so he could feel what it was like to fight it!!! Same day later I was wading
around and a small snapping turtle bit a piece out of my big toe!!! Glad it wasn't very big!!! Great childhood memories!!!

I'm from around the Boston area and I'm looking to collect freshwater (from shore) fishing locations in the northeast. Where are your favorite spots? Looking to explore and check them out!

Try Route 58 The historic old route to the Cape. Many ponds and Lakes on Rt. south from Hanson Mass. Great for a Sunday drive!!! Monponsett twin lakes in Halifax one of many you will find along the way. Check out maps of the area. This is a 1956 slides of Camp Kiwanee in Hanson on Maquan Pond in Hanson. Still a Great Campground there. Used to be owned by the Campfire Girls. Now owed and run by the town.
You would feel like you are in N.H.
