I also wanted a new one for the same reasons. I was lucky to have found an older boat and motor that was well taken care of. I am retired and my friend and I fish from daylight to about 11:00 AM every day without rain. (except weekends)If you go used, look for someone who has records on the motor. It worked for me I walked away from some "better" deals to get the one that felt right.

I looked into this boat 18 months ago. I still receive their monthly video "small water fishing". I decided to buy a used 14' v hull Aluminum boat with a 9.9 hp, trailer, trolling motor, and a fishfinder for less. Mine is a used boat with a lot of miles on it but I bring it to larger lakes and smaller electric-only lakes. I am still thinking of buying a used one in the future for the car top only lakes. Get to know the people who work in the local tackle shop. The more you catch the more they will sell you. I have also talked to people at the boat launch at the end of the day. Most will give you some tips, not their special spot but good information.

Swivels or no?

I use them most of the time, I like to use a lot of lures during a day of fishing. I will not use the cheaper no-name swivels. For .50 cents more I feel more confident with a brand name.

Not sure this will help but My dog had bad arthritis and I gave her a pill that had Tumeric and MSM in it and it worked very well for her. Good luck.
