In the mean time, if applicable, feel free to post in the respective topic to add it to your watched topics list and to identify yourself to the other users from your area.

This topic is for discussions, questions, reports related to fishing in Florida.

The best way to keep up with the updates is to click "Watch" (button near to left) or post your own reply in this topic. Then the topic will be added to your Watched Topics list.

After that, whenever there is a new reply in this topic submitted by other users you'll see it in your "Watched Topics" list (button at the top of the page).

In that list click (=>) link after the topic title to be taken straight to the last post you've read in the topic. That way, you can keep up with just the new replies, without having to go through older pages.

Feel free to reply below and post a question to the local fishers.

I'm going to be setting up some long-running sticky topics based on geographic location, so that it's easier for people to find others close to them.

These topics will remain in the digest permanently, accumulating replies.

Something like "Florida Fishing", "California Fishing", etc.

So for example, you click "Watch" for "Florida Fishing" topic, and then whenever there are new replies in that topic by users from Florida, you'll see it in your Watched Topics list.

We'll start broad, and then we'll refine as we go. It will be for both fresh and salt water fishing in the same place, but we'll split that eventually.

Later on, we might split Florida into "Tampa Area Fishing" and "Keys Fishing" and so on.
And we might re-arrange California and broaden the area to "Pacific Coast Saltwater Fishing", while splitting inland fresh water fishing into a separate topic, and so on.

Locations that have few users would need to be grouped either by broader geographic area or by type of fishing. In other words, we can't have a separate topic for a tiny pond that only one user fishes. Such topic wouldn't have any posting activity.

In any case, eventually user activity will dictate how we split or group those topics.

I have a few ideas for initial topics based on most represented states. But if you want me to set up such topic for your location, then please let me know. That will help me not miss any locations that have active user interest.

Robert J Samples, send me a PM with the screenshot of the ad in question. I need the ad and the domain name of the advertiser, and I might be able to get Google to remove it from rotation here.

Gmail was returning bounces a few days ago. If your notices were disabled because of that, then just re-enable them in your profile.

Comcast was refusing e-mail for several hours yesterday. A temp block. Then it went through in the evening. Should be fine now.

Yahoo seems to be filtering FS e-mail for some users. This is a current problem, started two days ago. The only solution is to contact Yahoo and ask them to stop filtering.

You might want to upload it to Youtube or some other video hosting service, and then post a link.

but the ads show up.

Ads are served directly by Google. And which specific ads you see depends on your browsing history more than anything else. So everyone sees different ads. The particular ad you see at any given moment is the result of compilation of what other websites you've visited. You can see one ad at the top of this page and someone else will see a completely different ad at the top of the very same page at the same time. And I don't even have a way to know which ads each particular user sees.

If you start visiting websites about repairing refrigerators then you'll start seeing ads about repairing refrigerators.

So just because your browsing patterns suggest to Google algorithm (which might or might not be correct) to show political ads to you, doesn't mean it's OK for you to make political posts on this forum.

Does that clarify it for you?

that comes along and tells us to not swear or talk about dummys

I'll copy once again the explanation that I sent to you earlier. Maybe reading it the second time will finally make it clear to you why you should watch your language. Here it goes:

"Idiots", "morons", "assholes" might not seem like a big deal on their own. But it has a tendency to escalate.

Someone posts "dumb ass". Someone else sees it and thinks it's OK to post "asshole". Someone else still sees it and posts "dipshit". And pretty soon we have "fucks" and "cunts" flying around.

And all of that started with seemingly innocent "idiot" or "asshole".

It's all about how the other users perceive the overall tone of the forum. And they judge it by what they are reading. And then, their justification is "but I've seen worse posted here". Which precisely proves my point.

Which part of this is confusing to you? Please tell me and I'll do my absolute best in trying to make sure you finally understand why you shouldn't post "idiot" or "asshole" or something to that effect here while saying "what's the big deal".

It's basically forum fodder. Derived via syndication, via API requests, or relayed from digest subscribers who are not registered on the forum and browse it as guests while sending in their requests/posts via feedback form.
