Actually a Holihand loop is used when roping horses out of the remuda for a day mount...reason is they don’t have to be worled overhead frightening the horse. On a right hand roper the loop is built and held to the left side and then in a swift motion swung to the right rolling your hsnd and releasing with your hand in an uncomfortable upside down position? A lot of old timers are very accurate and don’t scare the other horses in the bunch??

Spirit, I guess you and I are cut from the same cloth regarding expense of “fishing tools” as after reading your response wanted to share a Funny???
About 15-20 years ago, my pilot (Not really true as he was a friend who owned a nice airplane and flew me all over the Midwest looking at client’s expensive horses with various maladies) called and said Tarpon Fishing is on your “Bucket List” and my Dad who retired to Marathon, Florida called in late April that year and said “Tarpon are running at 7 Mile Bridge.” We hoped into the Cirrus 22 Turbo and flew to Florida and in a day and a half “hooked 11 and boated 5” (Those are Tarpon Fishing expressions I learned). As a Thank You to his Dad the pilot wanted to buy his Dad a nice Deep Sea Rod & Reel, sooo I went a long and he picked a really nice rod and a Penn Reel and I just picked out the same for myself. He was at checkout first, the Rod was $499.99 and the Reel about $479.99...I RAN to put my stuff back before anyone realized I even had thoughts of buying the combo?? We had to leave in a hurry as a Topical Storm was approaching and flew just a head of it to Little Rock and then it caught us and we flew instruments to SW Missouri...if you think veterinarians don’t pray, you are wrong as it was a scary trip with zero visibility and on landing I actually kissed the ground. My wife, who was our ride said to us, only Idiots and Fishermen would be out in this weather...

FYI...I have a dozen reels, maybe 15-18, ALL Shimano Spirex. All but one is the 2000 series, 1 is a 2500 with a double paddle handle because as a kid learned on a baitcaster but could not master it as an adult? Also I reverse the handle on the right, cast right handed and fish with my left hand (again learned on a baitcaster) YES I take a lot of grief from my friends but usually catch more fish than they catch...a good friend at the time on the pro fishing tour recommended it and I obviously love it. Once yearly I take 5-6-8 into the local bait shop and he cleans, adjusts, & oils it with a lithium oil, then I have him put 8# Maxima on all of them sooo I always have a backup to exchange if something is not right...DrChip

Absolutely...actually within about 3 hours driving distance for me and I would be proud to try to help with any details...have some connection to BassPro and might get a speaker or 2? Charlie Campbell just passed in the last day or so and he would have been my 1st choice. Let me know and if you wish privately I would include my cell number? DrChip

The Reverse: While Walleye fishing in Canada, being as Northern Pike are plentiful & aggressive feeders, I take a “short” piece of 832 braid 30# and tie to my 6-8# Maxima. No it doesn’t work every time as a Pike can still at times cut it off without even feeling the bite. But I dislike “steel” leaders and it may allow you to catch 7-8 fish before you loose your Jig & Curly Tail...

Green jeans: Not Canadian, from Missouri, but have a camp on North shore of Lac Seul. We also fish Twain Lake and Tukteigwa Lake. With our respective governments our group may be “locked out” this year. Friends have said the Ontario Provincial folks are talking mid-September before they open their side.
If I cannot go it will be the first year I’ve missed since 1999.
Camp is west of Sioux Lookout and north of Keijick Island Reservation.

Curiously back in the 60’s “if” your home or resident state had a Veterinary School/College then you were prohibited from attending another one regardless?
The only person I know that was able to do so was a good friend and All-American football player from that era and he was from Midland, Texas and played at MIZZOU but during recruitment he had a signed letter that if he met the requirements of that time he could attend in Missouri and was a year behind me in Vet. School? BUT, after the cutbacks of the late 70’s, 80’s and 90’s the administration figured out pretty quick (Only took them 25 years) that out of state students paid 2X or 3X out of state tuition and meant more MONEY??
In fact he sold out and retired about 10 years ago and then his daughter graduated from Texas A & M and he moved from Fort Worth to Stephenville to work for/with her and again VERY successful!!
Since I don’t know if this is private or not have not included his name?? Chip

I thought SW Missouri (Cassville) was city & state? OH I see, it was backwards and confused y’all.
Sooo Cassville, MO. And 1 July 2020 is my 73rd birthday and I have alerted all the medical folks we all see from time to time that is imperative that I have the ability to reel a fish in for 27 more years? YUP, I’m planning on making the big 100...Actually would love all of us to set that goal and maybe fish together on that day??? Dr Chip
