I guess I’m different. I use a small metal fish basket. During season we’re required to tag our catch to be inspected by game wardens. Never had a fish die in basket yet. Then we transfer to ice chest when we leave.

Roman Nose, Medicine Park, stocks thru the winter. Easy to catch from bank with power bait. Blue River, lower Mountain Fork, lower Illinois River good with flyrod and spinning rod. Lots of info on Oklahoma wildlife website.

Great rods. I have also added Berkley Cherrywood and Lighting rods. I think I like them even better than ugly stick. About the same cost.

I snapped a cheap ugly stick near the end. I was able to cut the rod flush at the last good eye. Then cut the rod tip back to where I could slide it inside the rod. Glue it up and it’s a great backup rod. Obviously not the same action, but still works. Zero cost to try.

Imagine my surprise when I checked my new Shimano Curado DC. I purchased it at BP and of course they will spool it up for you. Trying to learn how to cast it, and it was suggested to check the knot. Well, when I got to the end at the spool, it just came right out. The line might have been in the hole, but wasn’t tied at all. Grrr ! I tied it on and put a piece of tape over the knot.

Wal-Mart has a pretty good return policy. I bought a cheap setup and the reel was a plastic clicker reel and fell apart quickly. I made it work until I upgraded the reel. I eventually put some nice line on it, and I can catch fish with it. You might even get interested to learn to tie some flies.

Amazon has a martin kit for $25 and a topfort kit for $80. Both are Chinese and not the quality recommended by enthusiasts. But all that said, it’s something you can get out and try it out just don’t get discouraged. Or keep a lookout at garage sales etc. I’m about having fun with whatever you can afford. Good luck. 👍

New fisherman, left some shrimp in my van for two weeks. I only use it for camping and fishing. so when i opened the door, you can imagine the smell.

I've tried water and vinegar spray, baking soda, charcoal in a bowl, fabreeze, glade room freshener and new car smell in a can. the result a new array of smells and yes a still lingering rotten fish smell.

Any ideas, or products to recommend?

Thanks, wife is none to happy that i just stunk up our recently purchased conversion van. Especially since she likes to camp and it is a little rough to stay in all night.

I clean all my fishing gear with simple green. A bottle is inexpensive , maybe worth a try.
