I ve taught a number of people how to use a bait caster . It is a much different feel than a spinning or spin casting reel . Start with the spool resistance so that the on free spool so the lure will very slowly move downward. The resistance control is the control nob locates is side the star drag . Now leave approximately 3 inches of line out below the tip of the rod . Engage the free spool by pressing the thumb bottom , pressing your thumb on the line . Then raise the rod directly backward , straight up , and move forward . Attempt to THROW THE LURE STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR not forward but straight up .
It won t go straight up but will be thrown forward , the arch may be higher than desired but you will not back lash and with a little practice be able to adjust the flight of the lure .
As you improve begin to bring the rod forward in a more aggressive manner , the idea is to use the rod to project the lure . Rod speed equals distance . This will come quickly with a little practice .
Side arm is a quick fix but I don t want a side arm guy in the boat with me and it is like throwing a baseball difficult to develop accurately. Start out over hand , the next method would be underhand , the movement for an underhand case is much like opening a door .

BassWhacker and Benjino May be a little over their skies . KastKing reels are manufactured in Syracuse NY , the company is based Garden City , NJ . This is a similar post to prior questions , most of the respondents to the prior post , who voiced critical comments about KastKing products did not own the products but were speaking from second hand knowledge . I personal own 2 Royals , a Speed Demon and 4 Sharkie III . They are very nice reels and great value for the price . Yes , I also own a number of Shimano products which for 5 times the price ( Curado DC ) are a better quality Reel , no question . Yes , I spend a lot of money on fishing tackle . I use the Speed Demon on my frog rod because of it 10 to 1 gear ratio , seems to do just fine . Because of heavy line and tough cover , frog reels take a lot of abuse . I have had no problem with that reel or any of the other KastKing reels . in fact , I found the drag on the Sharkie s to be the best in my inventory .
Have found KastKing to provide a great produce at a very reasonable price ......period full stop .

Fish and wildlife rely on man to preserve places for them to live . It is not the fault of the fish or wildlife that they have been placed in that predicament but it is a fact. Humans have over the years managed to screw up an environment that was well designed to maintain and prosper . That said , it takes money , in our current world to preserve fish and wildlife . We have more deer than than in 1900 ,turkeys have been a great success story . While fish have been taken for granted for years , the situation in south Florida points out the value of the resource . Lake Okeechobee and both the Atlantic and the Gulf coast have been harmed by blue green algae that has been released from the lake . Fishing in the lake and the intercostal have been significantly
harmed . As sportsmen we have provided federal excise tax dollars from the Robertson Pittman act and the sport fish restoration program which aid in conservation . Were it not for these types of programs , paid for directly by hunters and fishermen , the fish and game would have no where to live ...full stop ! I m not smart enough to determine if a fish has pain from being hooked but were it not for fishermen they would have no place to live . We need to be proud of our sport and rebut those who attempt to paint it as a cruel activity .

I own a speed demon , the handle is a little big which I assume makes up some of the retrieve speed . But I , like Rooster use it for my Froggin’ rod . I also own 2 Royal Legends , which, I would recommend over the speed demon unless you are buying it for a special use .
I can t say that Kastking as smooth as my high dollar Shimanos reels are , while I own a bunch , but they are very functional, good value and serve every task that I need . I have read
the criticisms on this site but found that 95% of the negative comments are second hand . If your looking for a Shimano Curado DC , they are not there , but they don t cost 250 each . There are quality products at an exceptional price

Ron620 has got it , I used Kastkings braid and it loses color , probably most than other brands . But all braids lose color , I ve used almost every brand . For the price , it is a bargain . I’m blessed and can afford higher priced brands , I fish for fun and found the product to be very serviceable . Buy some power pro put it on your other rod and compare over time ,I’m betting you see little difference .

I ve just spooled up the Flouro and the braid . The braid is blue and lost some color . I ve had no problems . The braid seems a little coarse but like I say no problems . I noted that one post said , their friend said it was junk . Reminded of the old saying “ I don ‘t know it for a fact but I know it s true “. I have personal used the product and it seemed very functional , but I m not fishing in the Classic .

I have 3 Baitcaster and 2 spinning reels . Owning a dozen high dollar Shimano s , I found the Kastkings as good value . Not quite as smooth as a 400 buck Shimano but I could have bough 8 Kastkings for that price . The spinning rod and reel combos were also of good value , the rod is not a Loomis RNX but again it was way less than 550 bucks . Personally , I can afford to buy what I want but the Kastkings product seem to be very functional. I would not be afraid to recommend their products . They are not junk.

You are buying a 20 year old boat . 2 cycle motors are just fine , burn lots of oil and gas but are simple an easy to maintain and repair . A new 4 stroke motor 50 HP is 5,500 alone . Used boats are problematic . But new is expensive and may be out of reach . Check the compression make sure all cylinders are equal or very close , change the water pump , drain the gas and cross your fingers .

Fished a tournament a few years ago with a guy that cut the bales off his reels . He only used spinning reels . They drive me nuts , but are a part of the game for certain applications. He was the best with one I have ever seen , maintained that it reduced line twist .
