Wlcome aboard Barry. Nice looking catch there. So for this year you are already "snookered"? Couldn't resist........

Thanks Graywulff. I appreciate the humor so keep it coming. Always ready for a smile. Yeah, unfortunately in this area. Out of season everywhere until September. Then the 10,000 islands will be open. Also anywhere south of Gordon Pass.

Hey Barry, welcome. Those are great lookin snook. Thanks for the pics. We don't have any snook anywhere that I fish, which is mostly freshwater. Nice lookin place to fish.

Thanks Saw1. My last name is Sawyer. Are you part of the clan or a woodworker?

Hula Popper. I agree, a great tried and true lure. Hooked up many a large mouth with those. One of the first hard baits I ever bought. Still have one in the fresh water box, but haven't used it in a while. I've been favoring floating Rapala's and Rooster Tails lately. I'll have to break it out and give it a try on the Florida hogs.

Nice Snook there Barry. Are they in season this time of year? I sure hope so. Good eating.

Thanks Gordon. Unfortunately moratorium bound on most of the west coast of FL because of the red tide of 2018-2019. No season until 2021. Have to go south of Gordon Pass for slot (28-33 inch) keepers. I don't get down there very often.

Welcome Barry. Nice fish. What type are they? Looks like a really pretty place to fish.

Snook. Makes my list of best tasting fish along with high mountain lake brookies and walleye. Here in Southwest Florida they have to be in a 28-33 inch slot. Have caught many under and over...only a few in the slot. The first pic was a 29 incher. Didn't matter though since there's a moratorium on them as well as redfish and speckled trout because of the red tide of 2018-2019.

I've been reading and enjoying this site for close to a year and finally decided to jump in. I'm originally from Indiana, but currently reside in Bonita Springs, FL. My dad only took me fishing one time when I was about 4 years old, but that set the hook in me. I fish both fresh and salt water and, at 70 years old, I still enjoy the thrill of the strike. I have fished in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Wyoming, Colorado, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee and Florida. Whether it is a mountain stream, a quiet lake or big water, I love it all and am thankful for the countless hours of peace and enjoyment this sport has provided me. I'm also thankful for the daily dose of knowledge and humor this site provides me. So, there you have it. Looking forward to contributing when I can. Here's a couple of pics from yesterday's shore fishing on Big Hickory Island. Wishing you all tight lines!
