Welcome aboard Todd. Texans are real good at making sure you get good information. When I first moved to Brownsville from Weslaco and bought a bunch of new tackle the UPS guy stopped bye one day and asked me if I needed any help with my fishing as he had noted how much stuff I had ordered recently. If you have a boat parked by your house guys just stop and start talking fishing. I keep my boat at a marina and word gets out quickly how things are moving. Don't worry, they'll come to your rescue soon enough.
Jimmy - I haven't been out in about 10 days (SPI/Port Isabel) but I'm hearing the flounder have been in the back bays by feeder creeks and inlets or in the rocks close to deeper cover. The trout and reds have been so active that many guys are just concentrating on those guys. I'm going out tomorrow along with FlyGuy and I'll let you know what we find.
Hi Paul. Welcome to the stage. It's too cold down here in Brownsville/SPI to fish comfortably today and is supposed to remain chilly until about Thursday. I'm about to go through withdrawal symptoms unless I get out soon. Send some sun our way, will you?
Welcome to the stage BigShow. Always glad to see another Texan.
Welcome to the stage, H.H. Always good to see another Lagunna Madre Texas angler. Looks like you had them going your way that particular day. It's cold down here today or I'd be out trying to find my own luck. Next week for sure.
Hi, GC Always happy to see another Texan on board. I'm on the South Texas end. Hope the "chef" portion of your handle means we might get an occasional recipe out of you. I am a catch and releaser but when the Sheepheads show up I make an exception. Looking forward to your tips. Tony K
Happened to catch part of a discussion on Salt Strong today about a thing called Stoney Coral Disease that is spreading very quickly down the east coast of Florida and into the Caribbean. It was on YouTube and I'll try to put the link on here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6RaXj8iYJY&feature=push-u-sub&attr_tag=kzuRXMht_sH_VZO8%3A6
Worth your time to look it up and listen if you're a salty fisherman.
Hi Frank - Tony from Brownsville here. I've been up to your area a couple of times with friends but I don't haul my own boat down the road anymore. If you ever want to come down and fish the Port Isabel/SPI area let me know. I just got on the forum yesterday so I can't opine much. We'll learn together. Can't believe there would be anyone that would lie about anything so serious as fishing though.......lol
Hey, welcome Manny. Sorry, don't know squat about those big reels. All I know is that I use the lightest stuff I can and preserve what energy I have left.
Not fishing today but thinking of going out tomorrow. Got the Christmas lights down and it seems a little bit nippy to me. Tomorrow supposed to be in the 80's.
What really matters is the amount of water moving. Fish depend on the moving water to bring bait to them and that usually happens before and after highs and lows. The tide movement slows as it reaches max and turns around. But if you're out there and you have a line in the water your chances of catching something is a whole lot better than when you are in the office. A lot happier too.

I pulled a 22' bassboat down from Wisconsin about 15 years ago and haven't ever made the return trip. The Ranger turned into a 14' skiff and then into a 18' Boston Whaler and then into the boat that I have now. I've got a good buddy from Minn on the way down as of tomorrow morning (weather permitting). Looking forward to hooking up.
80 y/o from Olmito Texas. Keep my 19' Bay Seaker tunnel boat in Port Isabel,TX. Retired and can fish nearly every day but the wife doesn't like it when I fish alone so I'm up for partners. Trout, reds and anything else that swims. I'm a catch and releaser but I don't mind if you keep your keepers. Usually limit my outings to two to four hours.
