Yes a metal casting spoon. It was windy and the water was rough so I used a 1 1/2 oz. spoon. Biting on the surf side and inlet side it was fun.

I have a 2-1/2 oz spoon that I love for blues in the Inlet. I put silver prism tape on one side of the spoon and now it slays those blues..

Topwater r diving plugs.in the Inlet at night work well. Black, purple, or "burple" for nights without a full moon. For full moon nights, white is the color of choice.

I like 1/8 to 1/4 tungsten. The water there is not clear at all so darker colors show up well. No need for fluoro either.. shoreline is shallow..

Fished it a couple of times. Due to its size and location, it get very heavy pressure. I flip and pitch Texas rigged plastics to the shoreline and have had some success. Don't expect a lot of fish..

I would fish Indian River Inlet at night to sunrise - even better if you time it with the incoming or outgoing tide.

Lots of fish there - you just have to put in the time to learn the jetty... you only need cleats if you go on the rocks...

I hear the South Branch of the Potomac is really nice.

We fished Jennings years ago when it was down 100' and it was some tough fishing.

👍Indeed it is! But then there's Deep Creek in August...

Fishing out there is tough in the Summer. All the rivers are low and you need stealthy tactics - 2 lb line, 1/16 oz spoons and spinners, and cautious wading to catch fish out there. It's like fishing in a bathtub!

Where in Garrett County MD is the Blackwater River? I fish the North Branch of the Potomac in MD and WV along with other rivers in Garrett County.

Well worth the 4 hour one way trip for me. I sometimes drive out there, fish all day, and return home later the same day...

Thanks everyone. You're right about not seeing ANYONE fishing at all. It's really beautiful. Anyone looking for more details, drop me a line. I could provide tips for fishing all of the rivers out there.

I used to live in Maryland and IMHO t&here is no better place to trout fish in that state. Sorry MD Gunpowder fly fishing fans - the Savage river (below or above the dam) provides more fly fishing challenges than the Gunpowder could ever do!
