Well, Papa D, that's good news. I never had elevated cholesterol levels, but recently got a neat little microwave poacher that works really good and have been breakfasting on them almost daily.
Did have high diglycerides for a long time, but that apparently was from too much 🍺 . Only have a maximum of three per week, now, and usually none, so that's no longer an issue. Kinda funny after really loving lots of beer for 40+ years, I just sorta lost my taste for it. Now just have a couple socially, and that's enough. ? ?

I went cold-turkey on the beer -- lost all tolerance and was going from zero to Awhole way to quick. Turned out to be a lot easier than I expected.

I still drink Busch N/As or Bud Zeros but usually in social settings when everyone else is drinking or when I've got something on the BBQ/smoker.

Catching anything?

Don't know about Comanche or Amador but McSwain was productive a week or so ago.

It's for 9-1 (wife doesn't like eggs that aren't hidden in a cake).

While eggs have cholesterol, they don't effect blood levels (that myth was debunked several years ago).

We go through at least another 18 that are usually scrambled or fried.

What is the purpose/advantage of using grit ? Is it just to promote drainage ? Thanx in advance .....

The grit (eg, washed sand, bone meal, crushed egg shells, etc.) aids in the worms digestion. I use the shells because it adds calcium to my garden and it's free.

I make at least 18 hard boiled eggs a week and put the shells in the blender with very little water and pulverize them.

In that closeup it looks more like an eye, andbits in the side of the head not the top. I've seen eels feed like that in captivity, so my guess is that it us some sort of eel.

I think you nailed it.

No dorsal AND it looks more like front fins than flippers.

Steve -

Check out the freeze-frame below.

From the top, it looks like a flipper (no visible spines) but it's the wrong shape (maybe splayed out because it's crawling?).

Also, it sure looks like it has a blowhole.

The head looks similar to the Northern Right Whale Dolphin. The only picture I could find of a calf is below. Note the absence of dorsal.

It would be interesting to know where it was spotted. Based on the background voices, I'd guess Scandinavia/Baltic region.

Truly puzzling.

Not all dolphins have dorsal fins (eg right whale dolphins).

Saw this and have no idea what it is. Looks like a dolphin. Any idea??

Looks like a dolphin to me based on the snout and blowhole.

A. Container: perhaps a deposit to incentivize people to return them instead of just tossing them.

Tell your customers to bring a fully biodegradable container then charge them triple if they don't.

...in response to where to buy nightcrawlers...sorry, I forgot to quote reply...

You might be able to find larger batches on Amazon but if you're considering farming them be forewarned that it would be a difficult endeavor due to the 5 ft depth of their burrow.

I tried doing it in my worm farm and it was a complete failure.

We could sure use a lot more people who know how to stand on their “own two feet” in the world today.

Ain't that the truth!

My GS (12) just moved back in with me and I was truly saddened at how little male influence he's had over the last 8 years (not for the lack of a male in the household).

For example: he didn't know a single knot; couldn't bait or cast; had to be shown how to put a socket on a ratchet wrench; couldn't steer up a wheelbarrow...

He's probably learned more in the few months he's been back than in the 8 he's been gone.

His grades have gotten a lot better too. I've been giving him a lot of OJT-for-dropouts type chores (aka sh@t work) and put a 1 hour limit on his computer time (unlimited if he's doing something educational).

I haven't had any luck getting him to work out with me but I just got him a basketball hoop and he seems to like it (we'll have to see how long his interest lasts). I've also signed him (along with my 5 yr old GS and his dad) up in my Balintawak (Filipino Martial Art with sticks and knives) class. I'm hoping that he likes it better than the kids no-hitting-allowed karate class he dropped out of. As much as the two like play sword fighting with the pool noodles & PVC, I think he will -- just need to make the boring basics fun.

Hey Papa D,
I just looked up the worm bin pictured.
It appears to be a worm bin 360. From Uncle Jim's worm farm.
Retail $ 139. Very doable

The prefab model will work great.

The reason I would still lean towards a DYI is because of it's 'entrepreneurial' aspects (ie, reducing start up costs, obtaining venture capital (from you) vs. sweat equity, etc). That's your primary motivation, correct?

Besides, I really enjoyed teaching my grandkids how to build vs. buy (or how to unclog the sink/toilet instead of calling RotoRooter).

If you do decide to go the DYI route, I would encourage you to include your grandson in all steps (design, cost estimates, shopping, construction...).

I don't like the plastic lids -- pick up too many of them and may cost more than the cup (I remember reading quite a while ago that the lid was the most expensive part of the to-go soda).

Only when I take the family.

When I go by myself I only take my rod/reel and my fanny pack.

looking to get a quality fishing wagon.....four wheels...collapsable....affordable.....suggestions ? i'll beat it up for sure.......

This is my rig...

Bought the jogger at a garage sale. The tires do well in rough terrain and I can get it over logs by tilting then lifting. Collapses well too (fits in the trunk of my Accord with all my other gear). It pushes a LOT easier than pulling my fold up wagon.

Does OKAY in the sand as long as it's not overloaded.

Only thing missing is the Coleman stove 😕
