Has anyone tried the whisker seeker rods? I just bought a new catfish rod I'm excited to get, hoping they are good quality. Will post some pics of the new setup when it gets here!

Looking to hit the lake this week, suppose to get above 50 🤞

Haven’t used their rods and reels, but I have used their terminal tackle, and if it’s anything like these products, you can rest assured that their quality is top
notch….

I’ve had the best luck using earthworms and Berkley shrimp spray….I was fishing right alongside a guy who was having zero luck, but as soon as I sprayed his worm with the shrimp spray, he immediately hooked up….I’m not sure if Berkley changed the formula, but it doesn’t work as well as it used to, but it does work sporadically…hope this helps….

Gordon: Since I replace any fishing line at home, not on the water, I then dispose of it in the trash at home. Never at the lake, bay, or where it might cause an entanglement of game, fish, or even other people. Just Sayin...RJS

I do the same, RJ, but instead of disposing the line, I recycle it through a major tackle store chain that is local here

You're not the only one in that boat. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer. So went thru 5 rounds of chemo then had bladder and prostate removed. 8 days recovering in hospital. Then getting used to a bag hanging on side to collect urine. Recent Pet scan showed the cancer from my bladder has shown up in my pelvic bone and in my right lung. Dr said I have 6 months if I do nothing and 9 months if I go thru chemo and imenotherpy. So I choose to try the therapy route. With prayers and support I'll get thru at least 5 years just to prove the Drs wrong. Just be positive and strong. Ah yes and thank God for all the it Blessings you've had in your life. Maybe the sugar free diet will help. That's how the pet scan works. No sugar for the day before the scan then they radiate sugar and inject that in your body then scan to see where the sugar shows up (in the cancer).

I live close to the elementary school, and Yorba Regional is just down the hill from me….I’ve used a crankbait there a few times when I’ve actually seen crayfish carcasses around the lake and caught and released a few lmb. The lake has been gleaned of bass, so actual catches are becoming rare…..merry Christmas to you too, and thanks for sharing

Definitely replace, whether it’s asked for or not….and definitely ask before taking… I went fishing with a friend who brought along another friend, and this stranger assumed that my tackle box was a “community tackle box” and just helped himself to anything he wanted, until I closed the box with his hand in it, and told him to his face to learn how to ask first……it’s called common decency….I would have gladly complied if I was simply asked first….the guy was a total jerk anyway….

Hi All, Last Sunday I purchased a Abu Garcia Max X combo, the first 2 days boy oh boy I was about to give up, lots of backlash, luckily I was able to get them all untangled without having to cut the line, found out that a toothpick comes in pretty handy, anyways few questions

1: After casting, when reeling in the line, if the line is loose, can that cause a backlash?

2: How far should I be able to cast a 3/4oz blade jig?

3: I’m currently using 15Lbs braid, would 20lbs be easier to untangle when a backlash occurs?

I’m getting more comfortable casting sideways, any tips on overhead casting would be appreciate.

Hi Flame….
I find one of the tricks that really helped me to overhead cast better was not to try and keep the baitcaster upright, but instead turn it sideways, inward towards your dominant hand your are casting with….line comes off of spool easier and cleaner, and spool speed is much easier to control with your thumb….also, once you get better at it, you can back off on the free spool tension adjustment….hope this helps….
