For food and/or profit. Fishing is good for the Soul; eating the fish is important to me... If'n when people have offered to take me 'catch and release fishing'; I have always declined...
read "on Walden Pond" by Thoreau. it has a great essay on fishermen.
Realaxing, fun, satisfying whether catch or not, Peace. Can smoke me a good cigar, enjoy the bump bump, beauty of God enjoyed. Yep
Relaxation, and escaping the rat race for a while is part of it. Also like the challenge of figuring out where they're hiding, depending on season, and conditions, and then convincing them that a piece of plastic/metal/wood is something alive, that they want to eat. Learning more about them, or a new technique is also very satisfying.

I guess I neglected the final question in the title of this "thread" = I have TRULY come to understand WHY they call it "fishing"; ... rather than "catching"... (Ya win a few, ya lose a few.)
it is a quiet time and I give thanks to God
The quietness of being on the water, the challenge of catching the fish, whether alone or with others makes it a magical trip. Just Sayin...RJ

Nice place there. Worked there. Nice history with the old trailer park and amusement park . I found out don Henley of the eagles band is a big contributor to that Walden woods project .
