I love triggering their killer instinct and the fight. I only fish artificial so they don't smell it and want to eat it. They see it and want to kill and eat it. I mostly just feel a slight tape because bass crappy and blue Gill all inhail there food. The hook set after the tap is the best part. Then the fight slow and steady with the least amount of drag set possible unless they are small mouth bass.
Dude if your alone then a kayak is the way to go. And not expensive or long 10 foot kayak is perfect. I have both never use the John any more too heavy and if your rowing you are facing the back of the boat.
1/16 oz jug head with a 1 inch curly tail grub
I lost one when fishing a crank bait. Had been fishing my home like for about three years with no luck. Bought a row boat and hooked my first big large mouth. For some reason I grabbed the crank bait instead of lipping him. Turned the bait sideways and he fell right off the hook into the water
Excellent choice. They will definitely hit them start with a very slow steady retrieve. A tight line is key. Any bow or slack will delay your hook set. They are not going to pounce on the jig . They inhale it buy opening their mouth and sucking it in. You will feel a tiny tick on your line..... set the hook. If you miss the hook set loosen up your drag a quarter of a turn. They mouth your bait and spit it if they feel any resistance.
Hire a float guide and catch and kill as many snake heads as you can in the Patomick
Small mouth. Your lucky everytime the rod bends left or right they have a chance to get away. How many times did he jump?
I catch tons of bass as a byproduct of pan fishing. They hang out in the same spots. Throw a small 1/16 oz curly tail grub. Enjoy the panfish and it will make you a better bass fisherman.
One time I fished all day on my birthday from a kayak with a few failed hits. At the end if the day when I went to hook it on the rids eye I found I had broken the hook off on a snag early in the day. No wonder I never had to pull off any weeds
Tooth paste and mouth wash
I have a 10 ' kayak and my 6 foot ugly stick is perfect. The rod takes a lot of abuse but it is Long enough to be able to guide the fish past the front of the boat to either side
I keep going smaller if I am not catching fish . One size down then one size down from that until I am using mini jigs
Go artificial. A 32 or 1/16 oz jug head with a one or two in grub. Small spinners work well too
Its a fishing Rod not a pole
