Fishbites can be used by themselves or to help keep the shrimp on your hook. The fish aren’t always as far out as you might think. They can be up close where the smaller baitfish can be found. A cut in the sand perpendicular to the shore is like a fish highway.

Sounds like you know the answer. Try and find the hybrid.

Fish appear seasonally. Maybe that’s what is meant by ‘the conditions’. As the coastal waters heat up, certain species of fish begin to appear and you target them with your different tackle. For example, the smaller fish may show up first to be followed up by the larger ones. Rig your tackle to meet the current needs. Correct hook size, fluorocarbon leader, etc.

I’ve seen peopleidiots, do it wrong. Apparently were keeping their new 25’+ boat at a yard next to the ramp, ‘hooked’ up the hitch without bothering to attach the chains, went to back down ramp and boat with two women on board, took off down ramp with the trailer. Hit bulkhead piling and cracked stern for start of first trip. Managed to catch the attention of the local law, too.

You can avoid the rocks by slipping further west toward the end of the jetty walk. Concrete bulkhead there. You might try shrimp suspended under a large float to avoid snags in the rocks. Also, try Sawfish Bay park a little further west of the inlet. Access from A1A. Then there’s the Juno pier.

That’s fantastic. A real memory maker. How far offshore were you when they boarded?

Fiberglass does not ‘rot’, but if it’s laid over a wood that get wet, you can have a problem. Consider a Carolina Skiff for what you want to do. Mostly flat bottom and should work well.

Had a 16’ Lowe side console. Added front casting deck with storage below, rod holders on sides and stern, swivel seats with backs on rear seating area. Also mounted small screen mfd. Had room for trolling motor up front.
Suggest larger boat if you plan on carrying more than one other fisherman.

Not all salt. Large portions of Intracoastal served by freshwater rivers such as Loxahatchee, St. Lucie, etc.

Practice on a beater rod, one you might have found at a yard sale. You can do it. Especially with help from YouTube.

This time of year, dealers and rental businesses often have ‘try out’ days. Look for that, get informed, and then go shopping. Used can be fine and you can add equipment like rod holders, new seats, etc.

Sounds like you might need a helmet. That’s where I draw the line.
