They should be bedding down there right now. Juliette would probably be good.

The Georgia state record for this is 4 lbs, 2 oz, caught in 1995. I can't even imagine catching a fish like that.

What's the hottest lake in north and northeast GA for trophy bass right now?

I'm not sure about "trophy bass" up here in NE Ga; south Ga is much more famous for those. But here is a link, FWIW on current fishing reports on the whole state.

I'd like to know also. It would be a little drive for me but worth it if I can get a lot of fish. ...or I may just go to Burton or Seed.

I am kinda laid up and can't fish for now.
Anybody know of simulated fishing for my pc?
Seems they got football and racing and such I thought maybe??

Nah, just watch some YouToob fishing vids. Nah, on second thought it would drive you nuts if you can't go fishing. Get your tackle box out and fondle your lures, smell the wonderful aroma of plastics, magic potion oils and stink baits. Organize it and maybe respool your reels. You don't have a place to go dock fishing?

Well, he's a keeper for sure. Might not be the biggest but, except for my grandson, he might be the cutest little guy I've ever seen. Congrats Papa!!

Welcome MarGin,
Take one rod along and make it all about him. Get him involved in finding the bait such as sand fleas, etc. Your first attempt may only last 15 minutes, but he will let you know when he has lost interest. It may be all about collecting shells, etc. Patience will develop over time. Good luck!

Wonderful advice!! I've got a 5 year old grandson also.

We lived there for over 5 years, and moved to northeast Georgia two years ago when I retired from Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. Yes, the Neuse River is full of saltwater fish! Lots of people fish around the bridge pilings for sheephead, and further out around Oriental for trout, flounder, and puppy reds, Pamlico sound for bigger reds and other species, then past the Outer Banks for TUNA! I don't think I'd risk getting to the open water in less than a 30' boat; it can be unbelievably rough.

Thanks guys; still looking for the "silver lining" in yesterday. I'll give lake Burton near Clayton, Ga a try for crappie. My only problem with that is I don't have a fish finder. I guess I can just troll around until I find one, tie a balloon on it and throw it back and follow the balloon. :)

I had been planning this trip to the Ogeechee River in southeast Georgia for two weeks, and today was the big day. I was so excited that I barely got two hours sleep night before last and NO sleep at all last night; in fact I suggested we get up a little before 4am and hit the road. I had the boat hooked up and everything loaded and ready.

After 4 hours of driving we made it, only to find that the rains in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia had flooded the river we intended to fish. I had checked the water level a few days ago and it was high, but not nearly flood stage. Recovering the boat would have been insane with the 10 mph current, so we tossed a few beetle spins and headed for the Ohoopie River. Same there so we tried some more and my wife lost a lure so we called it a day. The hotels were all booked up due to a spring festival and they were crazy expensive and dog beds, so we cancelled. No wonder there were no outside photos of the place.

We ate lunch and tried to work out way back but wound up going down three dirt roads and probably way out of the way. Garmin GPS blows; will send you down a pig trail or through a residential neighborhood to save you 15 feet. I grabbed the atlas and got us back on the main highway and made it back a little after 6. Best part of the day was the banana split at DQ.
