Went out after halibut 4/7 out of Sequim Wa. Drug the bottom with 24-32 oz weights and various hoochies and baits. Not one hit all day. Lost 4 or 5 weights snagged.
Pulled out and went to Sekiu 4/8 for springers (Chinooks). Fished all morning, notta. Took break and went out for the afternoon. My partner caught 22” legal springer and a small flounder.
Trolling lures and bait 145’ off downriggers. Went to crank mine up to avoid snagging. Pole bent over like I was hung up then started dancing. 2 days fishing and only 1 strike. 1/2 hr later my partner netted my 34” 28.8# hatchery springer! Weather and surf got real snotty so it was one and done.
Thanks for the report. Not like the Good Ol Days!

Nice catch BB, a lot of time though. Is it maybe still a little early in the season,or is the population just low?
Thanks for the pictures, and congrats on the 28.8.
That was the spring run. Quota was reached and they closed it the next day 4/9
Summer fall run starts later

Now theres a couple of real fishermen
It is funny how big fish fishing can be lousy until it ain't. It is like big game hunting. Nice fish

Ain’t that the truth. I still enjoyed all of it before hooking up! Big fish certainly a bonus.
There’s just so much going on out there.
Nice little hen king! ...or would that be a "queen"? :) Too bad you didn't get a butt; those are my favorite.

Eating wise mine too.
The “buts” weren’t there in numbers yet. This year has been one of the earliest openings for halibut. We’re gonna try ‘em again in May.
Heading for Lake Pend Oreille in N Idaho Friday for Gerard Rainbows
