Welcome to Stage
Nice looking rig and a beautiful wife.
Looks like you have all kinds of water to fish and explore.
I always wanted to fish Fort Peck, heard it doesn't get much pressure. Of course, for you it would be a 7 hour drive.
Not sure what kind of fish are stocked with but the Fish and game may be able to help you out. I would even contact them and see what they suggest. Good Luck and keep us posted with pictures.

Welcome to Stage Marshall !! Oh gosh where to start. Do you have boat, if so you have so many lakes around to fish. Even if you don't there are so good bank fishing. A good place to check for area lakes and reports is the Texas Parks and Wildlife website.

Just joined and didn't notice any topics regarding saltwater fishing. Just curious if there are any members who fish saltwater bays and near offshore in the Galveston area?

Welcome to Fishing Stage. While I don't fish saltwater, would love to fish Galveston area, there are several from the Texas Coast that do. They'll catch up with you. If you do a search for Galveston you should see members that do.

Anyway just saying hi to everyone and thanks for allowing me to come aboard.

Welcome to the forum. It is hard to go back to old lakes. Under6i went back an old lake and new boat ramps plus the water level reached 20ft above normal. Washed so much structure that it was like a new lake. Have fun learning all over again.

Got to take the family on a short 3 day vacation for the end of spring break this past weekend. We went down to Pagosa Springs in southwest Colorado. What an amazing little trip! We went to the hot springs in Pagosa, a mining museum in Creede, the Sand dunes and dad even got to do a little fishing!

Beautiful trip !! Thanks for the pictures

Below are two links(hope they work) that Bill Dance explains about all you want to know about spinning reels. I saw these a couple of months on his show. I thinking about adding spinning reels back to my arsenal. I got away from them 40 years ago. And since I've seen the trigger release, which I just got in, I'm excited to try.
It also covers why you close the bail by hand, problem I've had.
If they don't work just search "Bill Dance spinning reel advice".

Hooked up with Forrest Ed on Wed 3/16 and headed to South Padre Island for some surf fishing.
Ed caught a bunch of whitings and a keeper sheephead. (no pic) and I landed some whitings and a small 27" hammerhead (released)

Tried out the line trigger and I was impressed with results.
Here's the pros and cons:
* gained approx. 30yds on casts ( a guestimate)
* can throw heavier weights
* no finger cuts or abrasions
CONS
* nothing, other than getting used to loading trigger and throwing with it.
SUGGESTION
* don't use zip ties to fasten trigger to rod. Those sharp ends seem to always find your fingers. Will try taping next
time out
* Do 2 to 3 line wraps on the pin
* you may have to adjust drag setting if you experience slippage when casting.

I'll be posting a link on these beautiful majestic birds. Interesting but sad.

My wife took a rare day off and we went fishing in the Gheenoe. The weather was spectacular with sunny skies, light breeze and flat calm. We immediately got into a bunch of speckled sea trout with two ending up in the cooler. Then she tossed a gold Johnson Sprite into about a foot of water and this monster Snook took hold of it. She fought it like a pro and I handled the net. Awesome!! After a few quick pics we got it back in the water in great condition.

LOL I love it!! Nice fish !!
