Met some people through my work that were from Hungary. Took them to Canyon Lake here in Texas. Caught some carp, alligator gar & some catfish. They didn't care much for the flatheads but were in heaven over the carp & took the alligator gar too even though they had never seen one. Carp is a delicacy in Hungary. They cleaned them, chopped them up real small & mixed it with tomatoes & onions & poured pickle juice on it. Fried it in fat from pork belly, all they ate was pork, no beef in Hungary unless your rich . Some of the best fish I've ever had. Might have been all the beer we drank. they are some drinkin fools!
Going good at Canyon Lake ! Lake is down about 4-5 ft. Fishing is good though. Had a week of cooler days & have had the bass a little more aggressive. White bass & crappie a little slow. Catfish always good. Haven't seen much on the stripers yet. No white birds chasing the schools around yet!
10 million to count red snapper. I'd done it for a lot cheaper. Ha ! Just Playin !
Hi Don . Mike here! U.S.Navy Vet ! 71-76 From south Texas , can't help much on the fishin , don't know much about the Baltimore area. Tight Lines !
Texas coast ! Pretty good fishing now ! I'm 67 & when I was in early teens my Dad & Uncles would take us & early in the morning the trout & reds would come in schools . So many you could almost walk on them. No limit. Then the oil spills. Pretty bad for a while , oil slicks & dead fish. Took years for the oil to settle. Texas Parks & Wildlife have worked for years restocking. Done a good job .They even stocked salt water redfish in a couple of fresh water lakes !
Good for you ! Caught some rascals checkin my jug lines . Wasn't too nice with them boys . Told one of the Game Wardens I know & was laughing about it. He caught them 2 days later checkin other lines & fishin without a license. OOPS !
Good reading ! Thank you for your memories & stories ! It does deserve an Amen!

Caught 3 of those in Port Aransas , Texas. Caught them on dead peeled shrimp trying to catch drum. Asked an old timer I had been talkin to , what kind of fish it was & was it good to eat. " Hell , I don't know what kind it is. Cook it & if it taste's good eat it. If it don't , feed it to the neighbors cat . " Looked it up on Texas Parks & Wildlife & it said Spade fish & some of the best eatin out of the Gulf. It was .
