Hey Steve, we will be going outta wax this weekend as well. I will be fishing a tournament Saturday. In truth I’ve only ever fished Nolin once in my life. It’s a mystery to me other than the map I’ve tried locating spots on. This weather has been so erratic this year I really have no idea where to start or a pattern to start with other just covering all the water possible. Like I said any help is very much appreciated.

I sent you a private message ? Let me know if you got it?

Steve thanks a bunch for the feed back. I’d love to here how you do Wednesday. I’ll be down on Friday.

I can let you know how we do. What part of the lake are you planning to fish? We were fishing the Moutardier area last week but are headed to wax this time. Are you a tournament fisherman? Water was pretty clean but rising slowly last week and a lot of leaves and debris around the banks in the creeks so crankbaits was out for me. I had my girlfriend and her brother with me last week and spent a lot of time dealing with their mishaps. We didn’t catch any biggens. My gf lost one around 4 pounds on a wacky rigged senko. I’m taking my brother this time and hoping things don’t change much but we getting a cold front and changes are daily anyway this time of year

Good stuff and well said! I go to them lakes 4-5 times most years . The last several trips have been tough for me. 2-3 keepers a day at best. The carp are bad news down there but I’m sure some people are doing very well. I’m blaming the carp until I start catching more? It’s the best Excuse I got?

Put in around 10 last light and didn't get a bite till about 12. The jig just wasn't catching fish so I switched to a spinnerbait and it was on. Had 5 really nice fish with this 4 pound brute as the big guy, I really thought it was a Striper for the first minute then it jumped and the fight was on. fishing a purple and red spinnerbait with a #5 Colorado blade crawling it as slow as possible to keep the blade turning and bumping stuff on the bottom. The fish would literally slam the bait, it was like they wanted to take the rod from me. All my fish were caught in 10 to 12 foot of water, on the bottom and the hit was violent. Been a while since I threw that Spinner Bait but after the way the were hitting it last night, I'll be picking it ups some more.

Nice Ivey ! Great decision on the bait switch and thanks for the picture! I love that you share good stuff on how you catch them! I got to night fish your lake back in the 70’s and one morning when we came in a guy was at the ramp and was filleting 7 of them big smallmouth and said most of them came on spinnerbaits???

I have tried using bread to catch fish but it keeps falling off the hook. I do float fishing and am fishing on the Llangollen canal in Wales. Does anyone have an idea of how to keep it on?

Try some croutons? Moisture will soften them up and should stay on the hook? Never tried it myself!

I am not much into cat fish. I would love to catch some good size pan fish. thank you for your help

I’m from your area and I believe you are going to the best places around here close? For panfish from the bank T-ville is your best choice probably? Maybe McNeely lake?

I’ve never been to Fork but want to watch your post! I’ve been catching some pretty nice ones here in Kentucky on the hot days on Texas rigged zoom ole monster worms? Plum colored on the real sunny days? Hope you can catch one of those Texas size bass?

I personally C&R bass but I don’t think it hurts to keep a few for the frying pan every now and then.
You kept to the limit regs and with a fishing license , you are entitled to do that
Nice catch. Enjoy

I really think that releasing the fish is great for bass fishing especially the bigger ones. My brother is a 68 year old cancer patient and he can do whatever he wants in my boat! I got no problem with him keeping his fish but this time I kept mine too and he was happy to have em. I even filleted em up for him. I was around some big fish Friday but just didn’t get them in the boat . I lost 2 nice ones and my brother had one try to eat a little one he was reeling in! 3 times it grabbed that fish and had it pretty much scaled it . We got a good look at him and it was a giant bass! Really cool sight!

Got out with my brother yesterday cause he wanted a few for the frying pan! Says he is tired of catch and release? I told him sure we can do that this time! We caught between 25-30 fish and this is what we could legally keep! He says we can’t hurt the population but I gotta go back to catch and release? At least for the most part!
