I am getting my daughter into fishing. I was away from it for a number of years and started trout fishing again this year. My daughter likes to go with me and is a teenager now so I want to get her to catch some fish and enjoy it. Any tips are greatly appreciated. We mostly fish in Pa.

Your best bet might be to take her to a place with a lot of panfish because they tend to keep biting if you can find a school, trout take a bit more time and finesse as compared to just dropping a line in and BAM set the hook. Next remind her you’re fishing and nothing else matters at this time. Mostly just make sure she has fun and she’ll get hooked...pun intended

Great instructions Ron, now tell me about power shooting I’m an old fisherman that never used a technique this sounds fun I’m used to Mississippi River Fishing using heavy everything so I use the same stuff everywhere and while it works I’m intrigued to see what I’m missing I used to stream fish for trout with a heavy sinker and 30 lb. test line and I did alright. lol

Yes sir the little ones are worse than the big ones the little ones cannot control the amount of venom that comes out of them compared to a growing one

And the little ones will get into your sleeping bag unnoticed. The bite sight burns and hurts a lot I got to the hospital as swelling started a bit of anti-venom and back to the lake the little bastard was still in my bag a foot long then 2-6 inch pieces then I tried it for bait no fish would touch it

I'd have to do it in oven. Dryer doesn't go that high . thanks Gravey👍👍

Dehydrate jerky for 5 hours at 165 degrees a friend of mine does his at 125 degrees for 12 hours but I don’t think the longer slower method makes it any better than mine

Your PB&J would work I bet. They are fighting fools

PB&J maybe but several whole kernel corn on a hook is enough to catch very large carp here, they’re great smoked.

Hey Gravey. Since i don't have a smoker at this time is this something i can do in my dehydrator. I luv jerky. Survival kit jerky pbj n cliff bars 😛👍👍

I just bought a smoker but have done jerky in my dehydrator for over 20 years, I use a little “liquid smoke” in my brine and it tastes better than any jerky you can buy, when I get done eating “home cured” ham, bacon and beef brisket I’ll do some jerky in my smoker and let you know how it turns out if I can.

A long time ago my wife was cleaning the pantry and throwing the expired stuff including a can of salmon so I scooped some out of the can and wrapped it with panty hose all I can say is that if I’m going for cats I’ll have a can of salmon with me...the Mississippi River is usually cloudy so the smell is more important than any presentation so long as you know the holes.

To your question, " Is live bait better?" generally YES, but there are problems in acquiring live bait, it takes a lot of time, or expense to collect live bait, even if it is available, and often it isn't. While a lure (even the rightr type) is expensive, the reasons lures are so popular is they are ready to go instantly when you tie one on. Just Sayin...RJS

RJ let me tell you about my dog she’s a black lab/coonhound and she loved training and finally hunting ducks and pheasants all she needed was to see the shotgun and she’d get giddy then jump in the van.
One spring I decided to mess around with the dog so I walked out the door carrying a fishing pole and tackle box the dog looked then took off running toward the barn, I went to look for her a while later so I walked down to the barn and there was my well trained dig...digging worms!
