Stripers are 1st! Pike and Muskies are a close 2nd… both fight like hell, tail slap, and jump
This is my top species! Northerns and Muskies are a close 2nd
I meant Kenora. My thumbs aren’t working very well!
Out fishing on day, my buddy went to cast his rapala and it caught him right in his head, treble buried deep! He went to ER to have it extracted and told the story to the Dr about when it happened down on the Susquehanna Flats fishing for Stripers. The Dr told him how weird it sounded becathere was another guy, fishing the same flats and the same thing happened to him about 10 years ago and he extracted that guys lure… my buddy laughed and told the Dr, “yeah, that was my brother!”
True story!
Lenora is where we fished as well! Best fishing trips we ever had!
I will write the camp base name when I look back in the pictures.
Some of our best trips were at a camp base in Ontario. We were flown to an outpost by beaver and stayed there for 5 days… no phones or electric. They gave us all food we needed, 3 boats and engines with all the gas we could use. We fished 2 weeks after the ice melt and the Northerns were spunky to say the least! It’s like fishing spawning stripers if you’ve ever done that. We Fished Lake Betty and Lake Nancy along w a few others. I wish I remembered the camp bases name? It was about 3-4 hours north of Dryden.
We used to vacation at Lake Bummiseen (sp?) in Vermont near Rutland. We rented a house on the lake that came with a 12’ aluminum row boat. Dad packed our Sears and Roebucks 5hp motor and as soon as we unpacked, it was on the back of that row boat. We fished, swam and cooked what we caught and had bonfires every night. We caught bass and crappies like crazy! Solitude!
Exactly! Buy the biggest stick boat you can then toy with those stripers! I’ve found the best lure for me is actually a Tony Aceta #7 Spoon with a yellow tail on the northern Chesapeake. They also kill the Muskies and Northerns too!
We fish each year in Ontario within 2 weeks of the ice melt. Best fishing Fly/in trip ever! Those fish leap out of the water! It’s amazing seeing a 4’ Musky jump out and over the lure and attack! Our best lure was a Tony Aceta#7 with a yellow tail. Poppers, large stick bait and rattle traps were good but the Tony’s killed them. Best fishing other than stripers on the Flats in MD in March! We had our own lake, flew in a badger and stayed for a week! It’s always a winner!
The best musky lire I’ve ever used was the Lur Jensen Tony Aceta with a yellow tail. I far out fished any other lure we all used. They are hard to find now, not sure they’re made anymore. I hope that’s not the case cause they kill the stripers too.
Hiya Bob. I know the Southern Indian River Bay Area well as well as the mid to northern Chesapeake rivers well. We mostly head out to MD for fishing and crabs. Just bought a boat for first time in 10 years actually. I’ll be in touch but it’ll be after graduations and proms. Take care!
