Yes sir, the biggest ones always went back! The 30-36" were the best eating!
I've been out with Saw1 a few times and showed me how to troll in the Petaluma. We're catching a few keepers and I thank him for that, otherwise we would be flying the skunk flag forever.

Stripers are definitely my favorite!
They put up a great fight and are very tasty.
We used to use live bulkheads for bait in the '80's. The small ones were about 24". Big ones were really big.
This was on the Napa River, about 1/2 the way to Napa after launching in Vallejo.

So I have spent almost my entire fishing life bank fishing worms and bobber, or occasionally a kastmaster, meps, or similar spinner for rainbow trout. I've dipped my toe, well, my foot into into the world of striper fishing lately, but by no means do I know what I'm doing!
Anyway, a bud came across this older tackle box with some well used and well loved lures. Obviously, some of them are older and show a lot of wear. My questions to the experienced(I won't say old timers) fisher folks are these: what fish was this guy after, and how were they deployed? Trolled, cast and steady retrieve, jigged? River, lake, stream? Is there a value here besides historical/sentimental? Not looking to sell or give away if they are usable, but wouldn't mind passing on to somebody that would appreciate or use if I can't. Pipe and lighter included for scale
So I have spent almost my entire fishing life bank... (show quote)

Hello fish fam,I hope everyone is doing well,so the fishing our way has been rather tuff,to a point Matt and I put the rods away for a bit,but with all this rain, and our fishing holes coming back, our gut instincts kicked in and Matt and I went after em,the first picture is from today,Matt and I met at Lake Sonoma, the water level is about 90-95% full, awesome,we hit up our bank spots, but the water was very cloudy, and thought our baits just weren’t being seen,so I put on a swim bait, baby bass in looks with a small spinner tail to be seen, after about 5 minutes of working the banks,I nailed this 4 pounder, that that was it,for both of us,1 bite,1 fish, the pic of Matt is from last weekend,we went to River Front Park, place is a mess, very few to no spots to fish, water needs to drop some more,Matt worked a bank for a bit and nailed this 6 pounder, awesome fish, again, that was it,1 bite,1 fish, both pics are our first fish of the new year, very hopeful for this season, can’t wait to get my Jeep project done so I can get the Red Neck Yacht in the water, hope y’all’s day treats you well🎣

Actually, the Russian river doesn't run into Lake Sonoma. Lake Sonoma feeds the Russian River. Dry Creek feeds Sonoma. Then runs out of Sonoma into the Russian down below Healdsburg.

I think it's a little premature letting water out of Mendocino. I look forward to fishing there again after it was just a large puddle for years. Let it be full for a few years before the next drought.
