Still above water, Rich, took me out on the Petaluma today.
Was a beautiful day and we caught 5 fish. Two drinks and two 20+ inchers.
We kept the 20s and then we get a hit that pops the rod holder out and the rod points straight behind the boat. Line was just screamin off the reel.
It's a wonder that I didn't loose the rod.
I get the rod out and fight a fish to the boat and it's a 30 inch, 11 pound Striper.
We couldn't believe it. We measured it, weighed it and took it's pic then released it.
That was it for the day and we were off the water by noon.
Thanks Rich for such a wonderful day. ๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ‘

If you are going to post religious ideology as is your right in this country, respectful responses and opinions are fair game.

Standing by Israel is one thing...standing by as they turn the Gaza into rubble in a way that affects hundreds of thousands of Palestinians that have nothing to do with Hamas or the religiously oriented nonsense is another.

Being against tens of thousands of Hamas and their supporters as terrorists is quite different than being against hundreds of thousands of Palestinians as a race or ethnicity.

I support Israel, but I stand for them not eliminating Palestinians...it's complicated, and trying to apply religion and the bible to the solutions is exacerbating the problem. Jews should be very sympathetic to persecuting any group of people because of their terrorist affiliations...it would be like treating all Christians like White Christian Nationalists that resort to violence.

Went out this morning with a buddy, we found a good spot and caught limits in our first string. We caught a lot of Jumbos, many in the 7 1/2 inch range, largest was 7 7/8.

Nice, how many pots are you running in a string?

Beautiful bike Wood

I just got it out of the trailer and was going over it checking it out, this thing just plain has the right look...

I had my wife sit on it hoping she might say something like Keith, this thing is really nice, maybe you should keep it, but then I came to and realized that was some form of dementia

Wow, nice lookin chopper. Hope y'all are able to sell it and make the profit you were expectin.
If it works out that you don't have to do anything else to the bike you might even be able to kick some more money to your friend. If you feel he deserves it.

I already told him if it sold well without needing a motor I'd kick him back a few grand, both my wife and I are on the same page there. This was about helping him first, without being stuck with more in it than we can get back...we live by Karma and the universe taking care of those that do the right things by others.

I don't want to ride it, I ride way too fast for Harleys, this was about making a five thousand bucks or more...well maybe down to Poor Reds when bikers are hanging out...just to sell it you understand, Lol

Jeanne wants us to take a picture of her sitting on it like she's riding it, with a leaf blower blowing at her like she's doing 80mph, she wants to post it on facebook, that is so not like Jeanne her friends and family will be appalled

A friend of mine traded a highly customized lifted truck with a supercharger and custom paint for a new $40k custom Harley, he was clueless about them, blew the original highly built motor within the first 150 miles, and had a lower horsepower 103 spec engine put in, it leaked oil after it sat for awhile, and for some reason he assumed it had blown a seal and he left it sit for the last two years.

To make a longer story short, he got cancer, called me and said he was in desperate need of cash, and he needed me to help him sell some things. I asked him what he wanted for the Harley and he said $8k given he thought it needed a new engine. I have a neighbor that buys and sells estates and anything he can make money on, so I told my friend I'd tell him figuring this needed a new engine at $5k or so and it would easily sell for around $20k.

I told my wife and she said no, you are not buying a motorcycle, I said I wasn't even thinking about it, I was going to tell my neighbor James. So she gets to asking about how this thing is brand new and how much a new engine would be, and what it would sell for, she said if James can make over five grand why don't we buy it and make the money ourselves? I was stunned and didn't answer, and she said Keith, did you hear me? I said yeah, but I nearly had a heart attack and didn't know what to say...So I told my friend I could go $6k, he countered with $6500 and I said done. So that's how I came to bring a Simms custom with a $5kTaylor paint job that is black with metallic burgundy ghost flames home yesterday.

I called a shop about a new engine and they said it didn't need it, it's a Harley, they leak oil when you start them up if you leave them sit for awhile, which this guy had done.

I use about same recipe just dark brown sugar instead. Non-iodized salt is super important when making any marinade. Many never realize that. Many ask me if I used Teriyaki because brown sugar and soy tastes much the same. One thing I do is put crushed red peppers on 1/3 -2/3 of the batch and it gets eaten faster. Smoking temperature of luhr Henson little Chief Smoker is 160 big chief is 200

Higher temp dries it quicker but will have less smoke flavor. The first 20 minutes is when the majority of the smoke flavor is absorbed.

100/120ah can be had on Amazon for well under $300...nothing to think about at 25lbs...you might want one that has battery monitoring features so you can see how much power is left. A group 27 or 31 equivalent is going to last you all day though.

My friend toasted a prop on a 25 footer, could only run it at 1500rpm back through the delta, I refuse to go out with him, he's always goofing something up.

There is a filet technique I was watching on Youtube that works between layers of ribs that seems to get some pretty nice bone free filets...it looked complex and timely, it seems to come down to how the layers of ribs work

I agree. I have several. I just got a Cadence Ideal 1000. Love that they are not only smooth but have a high gear ratio 6.2:1.

I tried three or four brands of cheap reels figuring it was worth looking for one that is going the extra mile, they weren't bad but didn't feel like they would hold up through a few years, the Cadence reels stand apart...I don't know about their cheaper ones, but the higher end really stands apart, they make some very nice rods too. It gets you into high end feeling rods and reels at really good prices.

I'm not saying they are not a good reel, as I don't know anything about them. They do look nice. I will check them out more thoroughly before I buy anything though.

Keeping in mind that for $60 you can try the Lux and if you don't think it lives up to the hype send it on back. Can't beat trying risk free

I ordered a Japanese version of the Stella from a Japanese distributor, the nicest reel I've ever used, lost it in a casting mishap in 160 feet of water (truly funny story), Daiwa makes a reel
