I agree with flyguy, anything would be an upgrade from Ugly Stix.
I would also look at the St.Croix , the Mojo or the Premier.
Can’t beat either one for the price.

Are you fishing dry flys nymphs?
Kind of hard not to catch a trout on a nymph if you feel it strike.
On dry fly fishing, you may be getting “refusals “ where at the last second the trout refuses the fly and you believe you had a strike.
Again, it’s hard to believe a trout striking a fly and you don’t hook him.
It’s really not that difficult to hook a trout if he really wants to eat your offering.
Make sure you have a drag free drift and let him take it.More times than not, he will hook himself.

Unless you need to cast far you really don’t need to cast, it’s more of a “lob” and a little extra weight should not hinder your casting.
