Check the weather. There was a big storm 2 nites ago. 50-80MPH winds. I drove thru yesterday morning and #80 was wide open. See if there is access to Collins. Get lucky
The one at Ft. Benning I have been to a few times. Very moving, very impressive. The WWII and Vietnam sections especially. My battalion (1stBn.50thInf) is an infantry training battalion at Benning. We have held our reunions there every other year since '03, which always included a visit to the Infantry Museum (once construction was completed). If you visit, allow time to explore the grounds arround the museum. There are memorials to many infantry divisions, schools, etc.

Those reels are in pretty good shape, Most of the ones I've seen are rough. It only took a couple years for someone to figure out that having the hole in front of the reel worked a lot better. Nice collection. Lets see some more

I have 50+ Penn reels. I can't pass them up at a garage sale. The older ones I clean up. They keep on going

I phoned my brother yesterday, he lives in Boulder, 2 mi. from Marshell where the fire started. The wind (90-100mph) was blowing in the other direction. The fire took out 300 homes in Superior and another 200 in another sub-division. The authorities tried reverse 911 calls but the land lines were all blown or burned down. They then knocking door to door. There was an issue with transporting and storing livestock. People started donating horse trailers, and the Jefferson County Fairgrounds opened for horses. The highway between Boulder and Denver is shut down. It is amazing that no one was killed
