Fishing Lake Amador

Hi, I'm Casey. I've never been to Lake Amador but I'd like to take my grandkids there. I have limited mobility, so is there hanicap accessible areas where we could catch fish? Trout, catfish and bluegill are fun for the kids to catch. What bait for trout and how are y'all rigging your tackle?

Been a while since my last visit. Handicap access I'm not sure. Maybe Spirit will remember. Good luck!

Welcome to the Forum, Casey, I would call a local bait shop, not a big box store, if there is one around. If not I would contact the DNR. That should tell you if it's handicap access. Good luck.

Call the bait shop at Amador. They can answer all your questions

Hi Casey welcome to the stage! I fished lake Amador on Tuesday from a boat and the fishing was slow.
There was a lot of fishing from the shore and there was cars close by. I think they use a lot of Power Bait?
Good luck

You might try Camanche Lake Trout pond. They stock every couple weeks during the winter with very nice trout (1-5 lb. trout) Took My grandson this past Friday and he caught 4 big fat trout. Largest was 3+ pounds. Very easy access to the entire pond. For trout we use a 1/8 to 1/16 oz sliding egg sinker above a Barrel swivel with a 24-30 in. leader with your favorite floating trout bait.

Casey I think Dandad had good advice. I fished there once and it was as easy as could be and we caught fish

The best way to catch trout at Amador is to fish off the dock under the light use light tackle with just enough weight to cast about 15 feet use small hook with chartreuse power bait and roll it to look like a pellet cast out and let drop you'll be amazed
