Wow, you just stirred a lot of memories. My dad had a chance to get a cabin on girle Creek. That was the regrette he had the rest of his life.
I have not fished the reservoir there but now that you brought it up I'm itching to go there. I love floating around in my tube fishing. I have also caught a lot the Fish on a woolly bugger. A few years back I was tubing on salmon Lake and having Great time catching Fish. Some teenagers we're fishing from a float dock catching nothing, they asked me what I was using and I said a woolly bugger. They said to me if you do not want to tell us what you're using don't lie to us. I wonder if they ever truly learn how to fish.

Even though this country did not welcome me home at the time I was very happy to be home. And I'm sure I was not the only one.

Well I have my sites set on a place called grizzly Flats that's in El Dorado County. If not there my second choice would be pollock Pines also El Dorado County. I like being at about three two 4000 feet in elevation. That puts me at Snow line and above the Tool fog in Sacramento Valley.

I have spoken with people this say they would never live in California because of earthquakes.
My response to them is forget earthquakes it's the fires. California seems to burn down every summer.

Hey LW. Welcome to the stage.
It sounds like you fish from the shore and not a boat.
All the fishin I do is mainly from a boat so not familiar with the lakes you mentioned.
We like to fish the Petaluma and Napa rivers for stripers. Had great luck the last few weeks on the Napa.
Pretty smoky right now but the fish don't know that. Except the ones that meet us that is.
Hey LW. Welcome to the stage. br It sounds like y... (show quote)

Most of my shore fishing has been at reservoirs that do not allow boats or swimming here in Marin County.
But when I am off to other areas like the Sierras I fish from my float tube. That has been my boat for about 30 years now. Right now I am going through some crazy stuff in my life. There is A good chance I well hopefully get myself an aluminum boat by next Spring. I'm hoping that the next few months I will be able to move back to where I consider Home in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I'm really not a flatlander at heart and the S.F. Bay area is driving me nuts these days.

Never fished Montana, but I've spent a lot of time in the Sierras. Where do you like to go? I hear you on that age thing. Lots of places I used to go to I can't easily get to any more. Not safe with a bad back and poor balance. You know what I'm takin about.

I do know what you mean I worked hard at not getting old, but I guess not hard enough.
I have spent a lot of time fishing in many places in the Sierra's. The lakes that I like are, wrights lake in El Dorado County. I've also finished at Union Valley and icehouse. Hard to remember all the Lakes and rivers that I have fish up there.

No I have not gotten up that way. Other than lakes my fishing has been either in the Sierras or Montana, and if I was not so old I would probably pack up and Head out for Montana.

Back in the day I was not very fond of hippies and draft dodgers. But over the years I have softened some and find Music from my era that sometimes Is right on.

Hello all,
For the most part I have been cruising around and reading a lot of the posts that I find very interesting.

Not been able to fish for a variety of reasons but the main one is that we are in red flag warning where I live.
Bonn Tempe reservoir where I have done a lot of trout fishing over the years is Closed due to fires and smoke.

I haven't Fished much in the last few years, primarily because I have been involved with horses. Both training and trail guiding in West Marin. Since I am an old fart now working with horses has gotten harder, so with free time on my hands I am looking forward to getting out more. Given the time of year trout fishing has become not very lucrative.

When the smoke and heat wave let up some I want to go back to fishing for bass which I have not done in many years now.

So tight lines everyone and I hope to know people here better in the future.

Very true, let's hope you spot them before they spot you. Not always easy when both of you are in the jungle.

I really need to not talk about Vietnam. Behind the Hostility and anger that comes up for me there is a profound sadness about Friends and family that are Lost in my life.
