Praying for Jean. I miss reading your essays, but you deserve to take a "time out" if you want. We'll just wait patiently (with bated breath) for your return.

Thanks guys. Hopefully, with the Lords help, I'll be able to get it done.
HE and I have been able to do it so far this year.
If it's more than He and I can handle, I'm sure He'll send me some additional help. 🙏👍🤠

I'd like to volunteer to help, but I can't tolerate low temperatures. Plus that's significant elevation. LOL!
Good luck on the weather. Anyway, be careful you don't push yourself too much; you don't need a heart attack.

From reading all the reports above, I must have been the only one to have an easy time of it. I had a double hernia repair about 25 years ago. Surgery on Friday morning. Mostly rested in bed and recliner Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Helped my son replace the radiator on his car on Saturday afternoon - no exerting myself. Rested with little activity all day Sunday. Back to work in my auto repair shop at 6 am on Monday. Never experienced much pain nor soreness. The next two weeks or so, I just went slow and easy and avoided physical activities. Moral: don't expect the worst case. And, if you do have some pain or soreness, it'll probably be gone in a few days, anyway!

Yum. I picked up some ham hocks yesterday. I need to put a pot on. I have some Anasazi beans. For those not familiar with them they are a pinto bean discovered in the ancient ruins in the Sourhwest corner of Colorado. Look like a paint pony and a bit sweeter than pinto beans.

I'm familiar with the Anasazi beans; I have some in my freezer now. I order them from Adobe Milling in Dove Creek, Colorado. I love them, and understand they are healthier than pintos. But I do love the flavor of the pintos. Pintos, green chillies and cornbread.....ummm good.

If you can, relax and avoid focusing on the disappointment caused by the incident. You'll never know for sure, but it's possible this event saved you from some worse tragedy.

black and no bait cklicker....thanks saw....will it handle 2 or 3 oz lead

Being black I'm guessing it's a 5000-C. I have a 5000-A(?) that's red and a 5000-C that's black. Still operable, but don't use them often. Acquired them in early 1970's and used them heavily for about 20 years. I'm trying to remember the difference in the two. I think the 5000-C had ball bearings. By now you have probably 'googled' all the information and it may be more accurate than my memory.

Don't know for sure, but I might think of making a "good deeds and strong faith" list so I would have a resume to show St. Peter. Standing at the gate and trying to quickly remember might be tough.

Mr. Samples I feel sure you know what to do and what you will do. Forgive us making light of your plight, but I think you posed the question to make us think what we'd do if we knew our date and time. Mission accomplished!

Do small towns still have Pool Halls? Had one in our town, mom never like us going there because they were dark and fill with cigarette smoke and bad people she said. Never was good at pool but had lots of fun in there

You got me thinking. I grew up in a (very) small town in the '50's. We had one pool hall right down town, and about 100 feet away was the drug store / doctor's office. Quite often people would come to see the doctor (no appointment), but his office was locked. That meant he was on a house call or at the pool hall playing dominos, so people knew to check the pool hall first.

Probably right. Doctors seem to be big on statistics.

How much can the human stomach stretch? I'm trying to visualize what his belly looks like with that volume of food in it. Eating contestants have always amused me for that reason. How can someone eat 50 or 60 Nathan's hot dogs, for instance?

Many times during crappie season which usually started in February in Texas and all the way up into early summer months, but I had my fishing pier all lighted up and would catch a basket full of crappie, drop them in my floating basket alongside my Pier, getting late I'll head to bed and come clean them in the mornings, I reach to grab the rope and pull it up and I'd find a basket full of water moccasins. they've killed every fish and as far as my experience I believe what a moskins are far more aggressive and territorial. I often wadded around the shallow parts of the cove plum full Crappie and have water moccasins trying to chase me away. There were certain times they were so aggressive that I kept a 22 pistol loaded with snake shot close at hand.

I agree with you Passingbye. I won't bore y'all with all the details, but having always living in moccasin domain, I've met up with several VERY aggressive moccasins over time. Fortunately I haven't had to deal with any rattlers personally.
