If you don’t have electronics, then get a good map of the lake and look for depths, changes in depths, points. Some maps will also show where fish attractors have been dropped into the lake.

Trolling motor and fish finder on same battery is not a good setup. Trolling motor should always be on a designated battery/batteries alone. Like what was already mentioned check your wiring and your screen setting. If it’s in your budget get a second battery.

I am going for a family reunion and will be fishing from the shore. Does that make a difference. Thanks for your reply.

If fishing from shore your odds for lake trout or brown are very slim. Seneca lake is over 600’ deep and averages 300’ If you can gain access to a boat trolling a spoon or jigging a spoon is your best bet.
If you can’t get a boat take a short ride to Keuka lake around 30 minutes to the state park in Branchport. Fish off the docks and you’ll have a better shot at trout.

Ice out has begun. You can launch at ledgedale, pa. southern end of the lake and go around the corner almost to cairnes island. The river feeding the lake is all soft water up to forks bridge. Saw two boats out today. Took a ride on my Bike and got some pics. top pic is from ledgedale marina, 2nd is by the dam (north end), third is from the Tafton Dike.

Won’t be long. Thanks for posting

There are no batteries, it’s self charging. Every time you cast it generates the energy it needs. You set the reel to the type of line your going to use. Monofilament, fluorocarbon, braid. Also follow the directions to loosening the spool so there a little play then set the brake as you would any bait caster by letting you lure slowly fall to the ground. Play with it until you get it just the way you want.

Yes it is worth it, if the $80 is not a issue. Both are good reels.

Your first obstacle is the cost of getting started in the pro circuit. Boat, gear, travel, motels, food not to mention entry fees. Major series tournaments can cost $30,000 annually for entry fees. Start out with local tournaments and see how you do. If your not in the money consistently you need to rethink about your parents advice and get your degree or learn a trade and enjoy fishing as your passion.
