Fishbecky: I suggest you hire a guide if you intend to catch trout on your trip. In the long run it is less expensive! Just Sayin....RJS

When you say trout do you mean Lake Trout? Deep lake. Iโ€™ve fished and boated on lake and had friends lived on the lake in Ovid. Never did Lake Trout just casual fishing caught some Pickeral. Nice lake. Hope you do well and enjoy Be safe.

Canโ€™t help much. I was on boat. There are a couple parks and know the one in Geneva has place to fish from. Been a few years since I fished Seneca Lake. There is See a River also to fish. Donโ€™t know where you are visiting on lake. You have Seneca State path on northern end. On Southern end you have Watkins Glen Park. Know might be trout fishing in Glen area. Been many years since I have been there. Nice area. Hope all goes well for you. Enjoy fishing wherever you will be and catching fish is a bonus. ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸŒด

If fishing from shore your odds for lake trout or brown are very slim. Seneca lake is over 600โ€™ deep and averages 300โ€™ If you can gain access to a boat trolling a spoon or jigging a spoon is your best bet.
If you canโ€™t get a boat take a short ride to Keuka lake around 30 minutes to the state park in Branchport. Fish off the docks and youโ€™ll have a better shot at trout.

Great pike fishin from shore in summer .Trout ,land lock Atlantic's not so much.Trout fishing in this lake is on the decline due to the grape farmer chems getting in lake.I guess wine money is bigger than fish money.I fish next lake over .
