I was swimming in a nearby creek and found a snake under a rock, seems the rock had fallen on top of his head and he had drown/been crushed.

Did you find him before or after his head was crushed? LOL

Hey Sinner,I just watched Dance and the snake video again and am amazed he didn’t get bit. You right though, the boy can’t stay in a boat.

To be honest, I would freak out too, if a snake dropped on me. In the south, everything near the water is a cotton mouth until proven otherwise. LOL

My experience with surfers are that they are young, territorial, have no common sense, and some times aggressive.
They like the break piers give them, which has interfered with my fishing from the pier. I really don't want to hook a human, so when they intrude where I'm fishing, I move away from the break area, because there is no reasoning with a person that chooses to swim, where I have just chummed the water.

Not yet, but I've planned a trip there to investigate relocation next June.

Any thoughts re salt marsh fishing would be gratefully accepted.
Any information about not eating the catch/pollution, would be good.
As would bird hunting (ducks etc).

I'm pretty cynical; I take pretty much everything with more than just a grain of salt - was just wondering what the deal was

The deal is, people in that situation don't advertise it. LOL

Last year, I bought a trolling motor with GPS.
I personally think it is the greatest invention in fishing.
I can set a compass course and forget it, or spot anchor, when I find something interesting.
Well worth the extra cost.

Query : If you're in hiding with
'the program', does that mean
that you are permanently 'stuck'
in that one place, or do you have
any latitude/freedom to travel, such as fishing trips ?

ANSWER:
Don't believe everything I say, I'm a fisherman.

How very fortunate you are.
I am so addicted to mangroves, but now live in dark, overcast, freezing Ohio.
Are you seeing invasive species there?

If you are not going to eat it. don't kill it, walk away.

Lot's of presumption here. eg. you are going to see the snake in time. You will only see a snake in the bush, or overgrown river bank, when it wants you to see it. Eg. rearing up or rattling. Snakes have no ears. They can't hear, but are sensitive to ground vibrations, and sense of smell is strong. Yelling at it does nothing but make you feel good.

Wearing snake leggings is really smart in snake country. Leggings and tennis shoes, not so smart. You also need good foot covering.

A snake doesn't hate you for your politics, or want to eat you, given the opportunity to escape, it will leave on it's own. They have a place in nature too. An important place.

I got lost in a Fla mangrove once.
It took all day to get out. It all looks the same after you make a couple of turns.
To make it worse, the elec. box on my Merc. went out. I was poling.
I got lucky.

Quit watching them do that on youtube.

Only true answer to your question was make a lot of noise. Not very encouraging was it? So easy to get caught up in the moment of a catch you could easily come across one while reeling and then the decision will be you, the fish, or slimy snake?

Bottom line, there is nothing guaranteed to warn off snakes when you are in their habitat. Might just want to get a craft or a spot in the no snake zone.

All snakes are deaf as I am. What you want, is vibration on the ground.
And if Plumbob is fishing in Australia, I'm thinking he is in the Northern Territory. If that's the case, he's in croc territory and snakes is the least of his problem.

During my time there, I hired Aborigine guides when I went to the bush. These guys are unbelievably tuned in to every thing around them Mine stopped me 10' from a Death Adder, that I would have walked right up to on the trail had I been alone.
It took me a considerably long time to pick it out from the rock it was laying on. Perfectly blended in.

Besides, as we walked, I got a hell of a good education on their 40,000 year old history as a bonus while hunting. If you decide to hire a guide, get one woman, and one man, their cultures are different.

Ya know sinner, that man could sell a flat tire. I still have most everything he advertised and most of it has never been kissed by a fish. Oh well we keep chunking.

His blooper video is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
My fav. is when the black snake fell from a tree on him.

The man, just couldn't stay in a boat.
