Good point. With the exception of any native Americans on the forum we’re all ancestors of folks who invaded.
Used to catch Puffer in Long Is. Sound when I was a kid. Good eating and not poisonous. Had some of the poisonous kind in Japan. They must have been cleaned right since I’m still here
There are no rules in FL just a suggestion not to leave them on the bank. No idea if they’re edible or not. Anyone else know?
This is a Mayan cichlid. Fun to catch. Release so someone else can catch him too or leave him on the bank for the birds? Any opinions? I opted to put him back.
Suggest you go to a few demos at local shops and actually try out a few kayaks. What I found, because I wanted to stay with one under 60 lbs., was that the lighter ones aren’t nearly as stable for standing as are the heavier ones.
Definitely a tilapia. Golf course and other ponds in FL are loaded with them.
Nobody at the pond but me. 13 bass in about an hour & a half. 5 got themselves off. 8 made me do it for them. Picture is of the biggest one. Sneaker is size 12.
The ponds in Venice FL are loaded with them. Many neighborhoods here regularly pay someone to come in and net and remove them just control the population. You could probably start a business down here.
Get the one from Walmart which comes with fly line. New line if you bought separately would cost as much or more than the rest of the outfit. You’ll be able to learn to cast with the cheap set up and catch fish. When you can afford it get a better rod and line and casting will be easier and your presentations (of the fly) softer and more accurate.
Great bass fishing in Venice, FL. 13 bass, all but 1 over 3 lbs, and a tilapia. Pic is of the biggest one.
