I have solar panels and live in Orange County California. Solar Panels for housing here have been a very efficient bargain when the Government Rebates from you and everyone else paying Tax Dollars are offsetting the cost. My out of pocket expense was minimal and the money I won't be paying to the electric company will make up for it in just a few years. In the mean time our local electrical rates have gone higher since our purchase of SP and increased the savings. Although we aren't crazy over consumers, there are many people complaining of $600 monthly electric bills in our area due to heavy air conditioning use.
The important thing is to do your homework on your product and installer. Many incompetent companies have sprouted up and have capitalized on installation and have wreaked havoc on the roof and installed substandard equipment.

I did extensive research and went with a company called "Enphase Energy" https://enphase.com/homeowners and installed by a local partner. I found out some interesting things on Enphase and purchased stock in the company (Stock Symbol - ENP) and bought several hundred shares in 2019 when I put panels on my home. I have paid for my panels many times over with that purchase and will never have to pay an electric bill while I live in this home.

Contracts with local energy company's vary and have changed over the years. Originally you put your daily production on the local grid (basically be credited for the rate the were charging for it at that time of day) and purchased it back during hours of darkness (basically be credited back at the lower evening rates) and the power company paid you a check for the excess production at the end of the year. Most people were making money and the power companies didn't like that so now they credit you at a minimal, nominal rate and you buy it back at the regular rates. Therefore adding more panels, which many people did, to generate income is no longer feasible.

I did add 2 extra panels to be sure I wasn't negatively impacted by unexpected cloudy days and as we had anticipated getting an EV- Electric Vehicle. We also spend 3 months in Minnesota so we currently have an excess production.

While I think home solar panels are avbenefit, EV's continue to have major problems that we decided not to purchase one. For one, they are just not a cost effective purchase. You have trouble getting your battery recharged unless you stay in your local area and have access to you home charger or an area that has adequate charging capability which is very limited on a National basis and is mostly in large cities. Major problems in cold weather areas as batteries do not like the cold, they catch on fire and fire departments just have to let them burn. My wife elected to buy a Hybrid from Lexus and hardly every buys gas, maybe monthly based on her usage. Again, a high priced alternative to buy a conventional gasoline powered car as price difference was about $30,000. How much gas can you buy with $30,000 over the next 20 years? (Women!) Our local Lexus dealer took in 7 New Tesla's with less that 7000 miles on them as trade in's for a replacement Lexus. So far, the have not been able to resell the Tesla's at give away prices. The are licking their wounds and not taking any more EV"s as trade in's. People are finally wising up.

Attanched are our power usage readings for 2023.
Hope this information is useful to you and others.

I guess nobody here likes hot cereals. I'm a huge fan of Steel Cut oats and when serving I had a heaping tablespoon of chia seed, pumpkin seeds, hemp seed, toasted almonds, raisins, a good dose of cinnamon and a little brown sugar. Makes a real rib sticking breakfast.

No if I'm in a hurry and want a light breakfast, then it's Cheerios.

I founding putting them in a 5 gallon pail with a loose cover worked well.(I didn't want to put holes in my cover.) I insured proper moisture level and covered the soil with a 1/4 or more of wet local newspapers still folded. I kept it in my garage, which did not get below freezing. I always had lots more bait as they could feed of the news print and multiply. You'll be able to tell if the worm or night crawlers are getting over crowded as you'll find them on the garage floor. Do not use colored new print as most colored inks as I understand are reported to be toxic. My Grandfather used a large wash tubs 60 years ago. He always seems do have wash tubs available for everything.

Mostly a Nay. Find most fruit cakes to teste like flavorless cardboard or overloaded with liquor that I found unappealing. I once sold fruitcakes as a school fund raising project in the 60's that I thought was very good, but sort of gave up on fruit cake. I love making Plum Pudding for Christmas, but it's virtually impossible to find the correct suet these days to make it.

I’ve decided I’m no longer getting any older, but the warranties on my body parts have completely expired.

Definitely need the right tool for the situation. I normally fish from a boat and carry two nets of different sizes. My standard net for the common size usually caught, but a much larger net stored out of the way, but easily accessible for the trophy size.

Contact the insurance company. You can keep your car and take what ever they will pay you. Repair it on our own and keep driving it.
I had a similar problem when chipmunks stored acorns in the tail pipe all the way to the engine block one winter. It very quickly over heated, melted electrical wiring, vacuum, lines etc. Mechanic kept repairing items as he went in trying to diagnose the problem and finally found the acorns complete clogging exhaust. It was then we went to insurance company and the called it totaled and I got enough money to fix the damage. It was back on the road and insured by the same insurance company.
A year later, the brakes failed to hold on the boat ramp taking out my boat. It rolled back into the lake and sank. This time it was really totaled. No repair possible.
FYI: Sheriffs Dept says this is a common problem on older cars and heavy boats. I now use wheel chocks as soon as we get out of the car.

I used to make "Plum Pudding" for Christmas for many, many years. Unfortunately we don't have local butcher shops anymore that do their own butchering, hence you cannot buy "Suet" that is a required ingredient in Plum Pudding. The World is changing in many ways and it isn't all positive. It was a lot of work to make and I'd make double batch and could freeze on for the next years holiday.

Check your soil PH. I noticed fishing in Midwest was lousy and PH level was unusually high due to all the ash from Canadian Forest Fires.

If you’re only gone a couple weeks or so, not necessary to feed them. They’ll do fine foraging for anything Edwin the tank. Worst thing you can do is have a friend feed them as they will almost certainly over feed and foul the tank.

Although it is extremely rare, some fish can occasionally have blue flesh. This is caused by a bile pigment called biliverdin that turns the fish's blood serum blue. The blue color will dissipate once the fish is cooked. Biliverdin is also the pigment responsible for the bluish color sometimes seen in bruises.

Though not closely related to either ling or cod, the name "lingcod" originated because it somewhat resembles those fish. Around 20% of lingcods have blue-green to turquoise flesh.

Thank goodness I found this company. A $5.00 part he had for my 24 yr old motor saved me $10,000 for a new motor.

I learned something very important recently. My 24 year old Evenrude 4 Stroke has never given a single problem in all the years I’ve owned it and I add a few hundred hours every year. This year I had what I thought was a simple problem which almost turned into a costly nightmare. I needed a simple wire harness replacement and low and behold found out a lot of replacement parts are no longer being manufactured for older motors. I was expecting to shell out 10 grand for a new motor when the boat shop found a recycled part for $5.00. I was greatly relieved. If you ever need parts try this recycling location. I picked up my part personally and he was receiving a large truck load of motors for salvage that same day. Parts are inventoried for easy identification and stocking.
Buying an older boat and motor could be a future problem when needing repairs.
