I finally have a section of the South Platte figured out between Broncos Stadium and 8th. Got a 2.6 pound smallmouth and 20 smaller ones plus a couple trout today. I’ve been throwing Ned rigs and tubes into the rapids before any deep hole and letting it drift with current, finesse fishing was the key this week! Hope all are having a good weekend, what a beautiful day in Colorado!!✌️🐠

I wasn't aware, and assuming, that Fish and Game stocked the Platte in that area. Nice fish and close to home.

I was assuming the same thing, they must have stocked it . I’m going to do some searching to see what I find from fish and game!!
What an interesting day, a YouTuber sent me a message today saying he’s catching big rainbow trout in the south platte in Denver! Smack dab in the city between the football stadium and downtown. They were stacked everywhere from 8th ave and North towards the stadium where we fished! Can’t wait until tomorrow, I’ve only caught smallmouth there until today! I must have caught about 10 plus a few smallmouth and Cody caught over 30 ! Perfect timing, I struggle with the largemouth this time of year in Colorado! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I am at croke reservoir at Huron and 104th. I have searched for a spot that matches where you are standing and can’t find it. I’m using the rock over your shoulder and the tree as a guide.
There are very few spots to fish as the water vegetation covers most of the shoreline.
I even bought a whopper popper which I had never heard of before. It’s early (4:50 pm) so I’m not discouraged. Just wished I could identify where you were fishing. I’m not used to bass fishing and would love to get one.

Yesterday I walked all along the wall with the railing. I caught a huge bass and couldn’t get it over the railing. Caught another smaller one I could boat flip over. I caught whopper plopper fish south east Corner casting parallel to bank. Couldn’t get any topwater yesterday, mighta been timing. Good luck I do best with weightless worm 2 to 4 feet out from wall with railing, the bass trap and eat the bluegill hiding there

Here’s a couple of pictures of what I call a wacky rig. No weight with 1/0 hook through the middle. I attach a swivel above the hook to reduce line twist. The worm is a Yamamoto 5 inch, pumpkin magic color (I think).
Yes that is what I used, thanks for the presentation
Z man is a brand of soft plastics, a trd is a short stick bait about 3” to 4” long made out of extra stretchy floating rubber/plastic. I’ll post a picture of it here soon!
Thank you, that was one fat bass! Everything happens so quick with topwater I'm just happy I landed it. Hope everyone has a good night, I already did!!😀🐠
Had to post this Bass, it smashed the top water whopper plopper at Croke Reservoir in Thornton Colorado this evening.
I usually go for largemouth but I really liked catching smallmouth. They pull really fast and hard and definitely a lotta fun! You won’t be disappointed!
I’ve been learning to catch smallmouth on a ned rig. I got a couple smallmouth but when I took my Z Man TRD off and put it back on the jig head wacky rig style I really started catching fish! I caught 19 smallmouth from the South Platte river!😀😮here’s a couple pictures! I need to find more good smallmouth spots!✌️🐠
Washington park and city park might be a good choice, I usually go for off the beaten path type locations! Where in Colorado are you looking to fish?
I caught that fish at croak reservoir at 104th and Huron across from fire station. Good luck!
Thanks for taking time to check out my pictures, what a great day of fishing I had yesterday. I live in Thornton Colorado which is 15 minutes north of Denver. Hope you all have a good day and get some fall fishing in if you can! Thanks Bob
Hello fishing stage forum, I hope everyone had a great day! I sure did here in Colorado, I spent the morning catching bluegill and baby bass. I ended it catching a 3+ and 4+ pound bass in a pond north of Denver. I had to share some pictures, thanks 🙏 Bob
