We have been using the New Sea Angler II since my son could hold a fishing rod and he is in his mid 20's now. Crab, rockfish (currently closed) and crab/rockfish combos have always been very good. Salmon has been hit and miss. The advantage of the New Sea Angler is that it is the largest or one of the largest boats in Bodega Bay and can go fishing when it is windy. We have been crabbing in some pretty rough weather and have always had lots of fun. Many of the smaller 6-pack boats can't go out when it is windy, and it is often windy? The disadvantage of the New Sea Angler is that at times it can be crowded. Never a problem for crabbing or rock fishing but hard when going after salmon.
Good Luck
Very, very nice!
Keep the pictures and text coming.
Merry Christmas
Very nice pictures. If you launched from Lawson’s Landing, did you stay in Tomales Bay or cross the bar? My son has been wanting to rock fish but I am not about sure about Tomales Bay fishing and have some reservations about crossing the bar and going north or south in the ocean?
Good Job.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing. Looks like you are going to need a larger crab cooler/container!
Keep the crabbing reports coming.
Thanks
That’s, that information helps a lot.
Wow, those are some of the largest crabs I have ever seen!
Keep the pictures coming, they show you’re not just lucky.
I was wondering how big your boat is and how you decide when to go out the gate? Do you check tides, wind and weather or do you just go when you have time? How rough of seas is too rough for you?
Thanks
Very nice KK,
Did you get these inside Tomales Bay or did you go outside the bar?
I’ve got a new boat, 22-foot aluminum, I would like to take it out of Tomales Bay (CA) for rockfish and Dungeness crab. Some place off of Dillions Beach, Point Reyes or Bodega Bay?
Any recommendations or ideas, water depth, location, etc?
For years we have crabbed inside of Tomales Bay with smaller aluminum boats while camping at Lawson’s Landing.
Thanks
