Hit the little no-name park on the Coweeman 10 miles up Rose Valley Rd from Kelso Rd. Caught three little rainbows in an hour using my Iwana 12' Tenkara pole. I'll definitely be heading back.
Luke, I'm in the Longview area, but I only fish Tenkara, which is probably looked down upon by the spey community. :-)
Lots of good rivers here, including the Cowlitz, Kalama, Lewis, and Columbia. Best of luck to you!

Hi Dave I figured you'd find Joe.
Are you the only two from Washington?
I live in Longview, Washington, a little north of Battle Ground...
Thank you - I'll do that straightaway!
Greetings, my fellow intrepid anglers,
I moved to Longview, Washington in August of last year and am just now at a point (it's a long, boring story) where I can venture out to do some juicy Tenkara fishing. The trouble is, I don't know where to go.
I'm looking for smaller, faster moving creeks - feeders to the Cowlitz, Kalama, Lewis, Toutle, Columbia, and other rivers nearby. I've scouted a few, but the parking sitch is uniformly horrendous, especially as I venture farther upstream. I've explored Abernathy Creek, Germany Creek, and another I can't recall right now and Abernathy appears to be the most promising.
Any suggestions?
D-
Jim,
I live in Longview. I'd be willing to give you updates when you request them.

Hello, Everyone:
I joined the forum on 1/3 of this year and I've enjoyed all of the posts since then.
Here's to wishing all of you Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and TIGHT LINES!
I can't wait to see what everyone's catching in '23.
Cheers! Darin
That's about as good a catch as we're going to get here!
I wish they would allow open season on them. I hate them, as well.
I'd brag about those. A lot! Well done.
Beautiful! What did you catch him on?
Awesome fish - and completely foreign to anything we have here. Thank you for sharing!
