plumbob, what kayak do you have...?
After looking at your setup, even if you add a 2x6 you will probably need to get extended screws for your lockdown/adjusting points. How about 1" aluminum square tube (available at Home Depot), cut exactly like your current lockdown, double them up, add longer screws... just thinking. I'm originally from Louisiana...we can make anything work ๐
Plumbob....how about a standard throw cushion to sit on. It would give you the 2inches and be an extra flotation device in case of a rollover!
Andy, just read this article today.... might be fun on the lake this weekend to watch the pros!

BlueBilly, welcome to the forum! My son and I fish Logan Martin. We actually have a house on the lake at the end of Coosa Island! The rain and switch between weather patterns has made it tough...but the fish are out there. Bass have been staying a little deep for this time of year, but try the area around Lakeside Landing (Town and Country)....we have found them on secondary points. The crappie will be on fire in about 2weeks when the water starts coming back up to summer pool...try house boat piers at that time. Tight lines!
BTW....we will be fishing the Airport Marine High school tournament on Logan Martin April 1-2nd, with 225 other boats๐(2 man teams and a captain)...but it is beautiful to see 450 kids with their dads having fun!

Wishin.... Half-Hitch-Tackle in Navarre could be a great start. In Destin on the Bayside is Mattie Kelly Park and also Joe's Bayou...both excellent areas for speckled trout and redfish. The jetty's at Destin Pass are excellent between April and May...but it is a hike to get there. Flounder can be found better at night at any boat launch..(ie: Kelly Park/Joe's Bayou). I'll be down in July and we usually go offshore.
...ps...I lived there for 13yrs...man do I miss it!
